Khotso Lodge & Horse Trails

When in South Africa theres one thing you cannot afford to miss, the Drakensberg, and theres nowhere better to stay than here, at Khotso. Our 1,300-hectare working horse and sheep farm is nestled at the foot of this majestic mountain range and is only minutes away from the famous Sani Pass.

Use Khotso as your base to explore this World Heritage Site. We will take you on horse trails or guided hikes deep into the mountains, or you can mountain bike, canoe, raft, swim and fish, all in the most amazing scenery. Our accommodation is conveniently spread out so as to offer each complete privacy.

We offer the most amazing, chilled out spot in the country, if not the Southern Hemisphere, and we encourage everyone to come out here and bring their own charm.

  • "friendliest host ever"

    15 December 2015

"We arrived in soaking rain, only to hear that our party has been upgraded to the lodge at no extra cost. Alexis then offered to prepare and cook supper for 15 adults on a Sunday afternoon . He was true to his word and even accommodated my husband who is a vegetarian by making 2 extra dishes as well. Steak and chicken. We were really grateful !<div><br /></div>"

  • "Lots of Fun"

    06 November 2015

"Lovely backpackers accommodation. Our double room was spacious, spotless and very comfortable. Met people from around the world and had a super time socialising around the fire after our evening braai. Lovely walks on the farm- along the river to pools and beautiful scenery or down the road past animal pens where just-born lambs were taking their first shaky steps and beautiful horses were being saddled for the morning ride. Loved every minute of our too-short stay and loved the interaction with the staff and other guests. Will definitely go back."
