Looking for that perfect getaway. Try a houseboat vacation on the Vaal River. We also have two self-catering Rondavels units that can accommodate four adults. We are situated on a peninsula in a dammed section of the Vaal River, also known as the Vaal Barrage. The peninsula has the Loch on the one side, and the Vaal River on the other. Cruise-N-Snooze houseboats and Rondavels units are on the Vaal River side of the peninsula.
The fully equipped luxury houseboats; rates starting from R1000 per night sleeps four people, and are moored in a private lagoon, separated from the main river by a 30mx20m island. Across from this private island stretches a 500m wide part of the Vaal River with Bird Island in between the banks. From here there is approximately 55 kilometres of navigable waters including the Loch and other tributaries, to be explored at your leisure. Before departing on your cruise, we teach you how to operate the houseboat and all the equipment on board. On board activities include fishing, bird watching, swimming, or just relaxing under the sun or starry skies. Places of interest on the riverbank include restaurants, bars, family entertainment venues, a casino, golf courses, spas, and etcetera.
The self-catering Rondavels offer an exclusive and serene getaway. It sleeps up to four or six people; one Rondavel has a queen-size bed and the second with two single beds. We supply an extra double bed mattress for two additional people. Separate enclosed toilet, shower and hand basin. Private entertainment area including braai facility, wash-up area and gas hob, overlooks Vaal River and the garden. Enjoy superb birding, water sports, fishing or simple relaxation. Boat launching facility available. Also ideal for Honeymoon couples and bridal photo shoots.
Cruise-n-Snooze attended a meeting with SAMSA on 16 February 2009 in which it was decided that SAMSA will issue self-drive houseboat operators with a letter exempting them from the requirement of having a 'skipper's license', until a formal system is put in place whereby a temporary certificate of competence will be issued before commencement of the cruise. This procedure still has to be formalized, but will probably consist of material that can be studied beforehand, and a written test. All this means is that we will continue with our normal briefing before your cruise, covering safety and conduct on the river, until this new evaluation system is put in place.

From the initial greeting till the saying good bye after the two days, it was one amazing experience.Raymond was very friendly and definitely a people person. He briefed me on the last minute facts and off we went for an experience of a lifetime. The weather was excellent. I even attempted a little fishing. My wife enjoyed every moment on the boat. It was our 30th wedding anniversary and we needed a special place and believe us, it was amazing. The freedom we enjoyed, no interruption of cleaning staff. Close to nature, places to see.
