A Bird's Haven

A Bird's Haven is situated in the quaint town of Wakkerstroom and offers self-catering accommodation for up to eight people in three double rooms and one twin room. The house offers a quiet atmosphere within easy reach of the town centre and river.

The home comprises two main bedrooms with en-suite bathroom and queen-size beds. The third bedroom has a double bed and the fourth bedroom has twin beds. There is a main lounge with a fireplace which has an enclosed veranda that leads to another lounge at the back of the house. This lounge is the Ghecko Lounge and it has an anthracite heater to make this lounge more casual. The fully equipped kitchen, dining room and Ghecko Lounge are all open-plan. There is no TV in the house but there is a small Hi-Fi to listen to the radio or play CDs.

Please note that a minimum of three people are required to book at a time.

  • "From the two old ducks and the duckling"

    27 August 2012

"Wonderful stay. Very comfortable. The rooster that sleeps on the pergola outside the bedroom, insisted on crowing at 3.00, 4.00 then 5.00am nearly ended up in the pot. Wonderful that you kept the old floorboards, doors and door frames. Just a pity they are painted and not original. Only drawback, we had to leave too soon. Thank you."

  • "Overnight winter stay"

    04 July 2012

"The owner was out of the country so uncontactable - the person whose number was given on the voice message to assist was uncontactable when we got to the gate. Muzi/Moses Makhubu, the caretaker, was unaware of our arrival and was in Volksrust. Luckily his friend was around and with our patchy Zulu we managed to get him to allow us in. Muzi is great, when he got back he apologised and finished cleaning the house - made beds, etc. No hot water at first as the geyser was off, but once all this was over, it was a comfortable overnight stay. Concerned though about the cracked wall heaters - every one is cracked! Very dangerous."
