Finchley Farm is conveniently located a short distance outside of the little Karoo town of Willowmore in the Eastern Cape Province, along the Prince Albert Road.
Both beautifully restored farm cottages are fully equipped for self-catering and date back to the late 1800s with their interiors tastefully furnished with numerous historic items that adjourn the walls and lower surfaces.
Set in a shady garden of a homestead, the location of the cottages makes it suitable for rustic and a bit of rural living for the visitor looking to experience a real Karoo farm stay, with all the ins and outs of life on a working Karoo farm.
"The cottage was simply beautiful. We could not fault anything and enjoyed our overnight stay immensely. The hosts were welcoming and allowed us to roam the gardens and farm."
"A lovely oasis in the countryside around the small, isolated village of Willowmore. We were greeted by our hostess on arrival, and helped to settle in. The "small house" was very nice with a large bathroom, a comfortable living kitchen-lounge area with all the self-catering equipment one needs, and a bedroom which was a little bit restricted for space. We are very grateful to our hostess for helping us to locate and buy a new car battery on a public holiday when even Oudtshoorn was closed, and even offering to go and fetch it, but we saved her that extra trouble. Thank you Joanne. Re the star ratings: Location is rated as being near to the village, and away from "the city", which is what we wanted. Facilities just lacked a small table for eating inside - one doesn't want to spill on the furniture, or necessarily eat on the patio. We didn't find trays for this purpose, but we might have missed it, after our hectic day."
"Nice quiet clean and need norhing more"
"Very quite and peaceful. Was comfortable, thanks."
"Very much a taste of the Karoo with cool interiors and heritage items scattered throughout. Not quite as sound proof from our neighbours as I would have liked. Whilst TV is not a priority for us the channel and volume selection was unresponsive on our remote, being controlled by someone somewhere else on the property. Very comfortable bed. Shower pressure really disappointing. Appreciated the suggestions for mountain bike riding on the farm which was great."
"We enjoyed our overnight stay at the farm. The surroundings are beautiful with a very nice pool. Although Joanne was not there, her staff (a lovely little old lady) made us very welcome. She seems to do everything herself. The food was good(both dinner & breakfast). The room was comfortable although a bit small but there was a fridge and a portable aircon unit so, all in all no complaints and we will happily stay there again"
"Wonderful stop over. Neat, clean and restored beautifully."
