• "Peaceful Relaxation"

    03 April 2018

"The visit to RooiSee was the most relaxing and enjoyable stay we had in a long time. Friendly and efficient service from the time I made the booking up until the time we reluctantly had to leave. A big enjoyable experience is the view from and just relaxing on the top of the deck watching the activity on the beach and just to sit and watch the sea. The owners went out of their way to make our stay enjoyable and pleasant. We had our little dog along who enjoyed it at times even more than us. We can really recommend it for those that long for tranquillity and a peaceful and relaxing stay."

  • "Nice cottage, beach access problematic."

    12 September 2016

"Rooisee is a sweet little cottage just on the north edge of Yzerfontein. It actually sits right next to the town, but due to right-of-way issues, you have to drive around the edge of town to reach it. Pros: It is relatively spacious, has 3 BR and 3 bath and is nicely appointed. The kitchen is very well-equipped and convenient. It is a short walk into town. It is relatively private, and due to fronting onto a vlei that is a bird sanctuary, quite quiet.

Cons: The cottage sits behind a large vegetated sand dune, so there are no sea views. There are steps up to the top of the dune - BUT, big disadvantage, no steps down the other side, which is extremely steep (too steep for most of the adults in our party to even want to attempt it) - and in addition, is actually a protected area that is being restored, so you are not supposed to be climbing down the face of it anyway. We found we could walk down the street to StrandKombuis (wedding venue/beach restaurant) and use their nice steps up and over the dunes, but were unsure whether this was generally acceptable to them or not."

    "
We spent a wonderful 3 days at Rooisee. The beach access just over the dune was something very special.... we sat on the bench at the top of the dune and enjoyed our morning coffee watching the waves. A lot of care has gone intodecorating the cottage.

Thanks for a lovely weekend
"

  • "Rooisee Stay"

    04 May 2015

"Stayed for two nights at Rooisee, very conveniently close to Strandkombuis is attending a wedding there. A short drive from town & literally behind the dune & easy access to the beautiful beach. The stay was pleasant. Its a minimalist & basic, yet comfortable en-suite room. Quite chilly inside the room & weather was chillyso I'd recommend hosts to please supply extra blankets. Warm water bottles & kettle was supplied on request. No long view mirror and no fridge for storing beverages. Very neat & tidy but perhaps a bit pricey for mostly pretty decor."
