Vultures Lodge

Vultures Lodge is uniquely located at the foot of Aasvolberg, with breath taking views of the town and surrounding Maluti Mountains.

We offer you affordable AA Superior graded lodging, friendly and personal service, with exclusive outfitted double en-suite rooms, each with satellite television, private patios and outside entrances. We also feature historic cottages fully equipped for self-catering.

The lodge was named in honor of the numerous Cape Vultures that inhabited there area. Aasvolberg, which means The Mountain of the vultures earned its name from a natural bridge in the mountain which resembles the eye of a vulture.

Come and enjoy the quiet and tranquil atmosphere, while having a buffet breakfast in our elegant dining room, or enjoy a freshly brewed cup of coffee on our lovely terrace.

  • "Historic mansion in scenic setting"

    19 April 2021

"We love Vultures Lodge and have been there before. The self catering units are pet friendly including large breeds with lots of space for your furkids to explore (units not fenced). This time we stayed in the lodge itself, which has a real Jane Austen feel. Pressed ceilings, antique furniture, interesting photos of times past. Don't miss out on dinner at the lodge, which you have to book in advance. Look out for the nearly white Cape Vultures - there are only a few spots in ZA where you can see them. Our next stay at Vultures Lodge is already booked!"

  • "The ambience"

    02 March 2017

"We could not get supper there because we had not prebooked. We were advised to go to a local restaurant, which was great. On our return we found that we had been locked out, and it took a while before the door was unlocked for us.Also the last bit of road leading to the Inn needs improvement."

  • "Don't go on a Monday!"

    25 February 2016

"A secluded property with good views of the countryside and great character inside. Each room has its own distinct character. We were looking forward to the house chef's cooking of which much has been written but we failed to spot that he only cooks by way of special arrangment. This was unfortunate because on a Monday the other restaurants in town are closed. But we made the best of it by buying some provisions from the shops and had an evening pinic on the stoop. Relaxed and friendly staff."
