  "Everything was spotlessly clean. The gardens were lovely and restful to sit and relax after a long drive. Facilities eg tea making cutlery and crockery were adequate and of high quality. Rooms were quiet in spite of proximity to street. Decoration was delightful."

  "We stayed at their separate location, the thirsty cactus (we think it was the thirsty cactus) and it was so cute! My wife absolutely loved the aesthetics, and wouldn't shut up about it. Was a really good experience overall, it's a shame we only stayed one night."

  "Absolutely amazed at how lovely this guest house was. The linen crisp and white, aircon and electric blankets, gorgeous bathroom. All you could ask for. Pity were only passing through and spent the night but very homely and will definitely recommend to friends and will come again!"

  "We traveled with our adult children and grandchild, and booked two rooms with Air Conditioning, as we know Colesburg summers. Our room was fine but the double room our children and grandchild had, only had air conditioning in one of the two rooms and it was hopelessly inadequate for the area. We were very disappointed. The room my wife and I occupied was very nice, and we were pleased. Thank you also to Johann and his wife for the assistance with my wife's tummy bug. we appreciated the concern."

  "We enjoyed our stay and it is certainly a fascinating place. The owners/managers were incredibly friendly and helpful and directed us to where we could grab a bite after a long trip. Only one (small) criticism - the room could have done with an airing as it was a bit musty. Other than that it was a HUGE room which was a wonderful surprise after staying in a number of tiny boxes with minute bathrooms."

  "We had received positive recommendations in advance about the Karoo Lighthouse, but unfortunately we were disappointed. Our booking could not be found (despite us having received e-mail confirmation in advance). Our room was very old fashioned and dark. No drinking water was provided despite notices in hotel information about water supply / quality problems. The bathroom had only an old fashioned bathtub with a hand shower. The results is that carpeted(?) bathroom floor gets wet, in addition to the inconvenience of not being able to stand up-right to have a shower - poor! Airconditioning was hardly working. All in all, highly overpriced and disappointing!"

  "The owner was very friendly and the rooms was very neat and comfortable. When you arrive outside the establishment it does not look like a luxury establishment (main road, old town street view, etc.) but once you step inside it compares to some of the best B&B in the country."
