  • "Well appointed"

    09 April 2018

"This was an ideal overnight stay en route from the north to south. Comfortable beds, great shower, all that we needed for a basic self catering meal (braai). Peaceful and quiet, and what a view and sunset! Really a beautiful landscape (even a few springbok and sheep came into our view). The only drawback was the amount of litter all over the surrounding property.. we suggest a proper 'chicken parade' to pick up ALL visible litter so that this lovely spot can enjoy the full marks that it should otherwise be given. (Note: the tent itself was spotless. It is the litter that has dropped / spread down below the deck and further afield that is the problem). Also note that this accommodation is only accessible by high clearance or 4x4 vehicles."

  • "The sense of seclution."

"You are just over the hill from the N1, but it feels as if you are far away and all on your own on a farm if you stay at the rock cabin."

  • "Not what we expected"

    19 January 2017

"Although our accommodation was clean and comfortable and Safari Park management went out of their way to accommodate our request for dinner, we were a bit disappointed that none of the attractions noted on the website actually exist. There were no animals and no farm dam to swim in. The property looked a little run-down."

"<p class="MsoNormal">We did not know what to expect at our stay, because of one of the previous reviews but Safari Park was very conveniently located for an overnight stay and very well priced. We had a wonderful experience at Safari Park; we arrived late but still received a warm welcome and the accommodation was very clean and well equipped. We wereoffered an unexpected game drive and that was the cherry on top. We left the next morning feeling blessed, refreshed and ready for the long road ahead. Thank you Safari Park. Regards, Barry &amp; Suzanne Dale</p>"

  • "Nice"

    06 January 2015

"Safari Park was nice place to go. Teresa was very rude, not a friendly hostess and the room we stayed was lovely. The stove gas was empty and there were no clip around the gas pipe so we were nervous about the gas leaking. Also there we spiders but otherwise it was nice."

  • "Safari Park"

    13 October 2014

"Let me start with the positive:What we saw on the site and for our expectations the quote that we have received was in comparison with other accommodation very reasonable. As we could not find a place to accommodate our whole family (6 people) they went out of their way and offered us two chalets. In general the host attitude was helpful. The linen was clean and neat.Unfortunately we were disappointed as expected from a "farm" holiday did not materialized. We booked for 3 nights but arriving in the afternoon we could not stay and depart very early the next morning. As Colesberg does not offer a lot for teenagers to do however they were excited that they could spend a lot of time at the swimming pool. The swimming pool was a green slimy mass and quite small. The host tried to rectify it and ordered workers to clean it but they made such a noise that we were unable to relax. There were two goats in an enclosure, they had grass to eat but their place was dirty, neglected and without fresh water. The promises to experience a "farm holiday" that I have read on other reviews did not materialized. Several workers worked in the garden close by and they had no respect for our privacy and continue to make a noise. We realized that for the price we have paid we can't expect a lot. It was next to the N1 and the traffic at night was horrendous. We could see that may be years ago this place was lovely but now there is a general sense of neglect. I would have loved my kids to experience a farm holiday but this was too depressing to stay."

  • "Loved it!"

"We stayed only 1 night but it was amazing. The chalet is lovely, lots of space and very comfortable. Leon was very welcoming and we would love to visit again."

  • "Great Karoo stay"

    20 December 2013

"Having read the review posted in September we were a little apprehensive about the booking we made way before.Perhaps the person posting the one star had a bad day but we certainly don't share their opinion. Our overall experience has been very good, Leon was an excellent host and game drive guide who made sure we were comfortable from beginning till end. The farm house spacious, the beds comfortable and farm a very peaceful place. The drive over the 3600 ha farm a fantastic experience with views worth a fortune.Having gone through Colesberg as fast as we could on previous occasions we are very glad to have taken a couple of days to stay and drive around the Colesberg area. If you like beautiful landscapes that change each time you drive over another hill, book an extra night in Safari Park and accept Leon's offer for a game drive. You won't regret spending some time with him while he talks about the farm and the game and sheep farming."

  • "An absolute NO-NO!!!!!"

    16 September 2013

"There is no way we are staying at Safari Park again. We stayed over on 14 September and it was an absolute disaster. The place is severely neglected and falling apart. When we arrived there was no one around. After getting hold of the owner, who was aparantly in Bloemfontein at the time, he sent one of his people to show us to the chalet. This was the chalet that we are supposed to atay in again on the 21st. It had a broken / non operational geyser, a broken (non flushable) toilet, and the deck is a health hazzard. The wood is so brittle that it broke when I stepped on it. Had my husband not been there to catch me, I would have had a very nasty fall.We were moved to another chalet by the owner. This one, at first glance, looked better. Unfortunately both double beds were broken, again brittle wood. We ended up leaving at 01h30 in the middel of the night."

  • "Perfect stopover"

    04 January 2007

"Friendly and helpful staff, coupled with magnificent views from a beautiful tenthouse, made our overnight stay one to be remembered. All of our requests were met, the food was great and the service fantastic. We would have loved to stay another night but will definitely visit Safari Park again, hopefully for longer next time."
