Oukraalvalle

Oukraalvalle is located on a privately owned farm, nestled in a secluded valley surrounded by the Mpumalanga Drakensberg mountains, which provides the perfect location for a retreat from city life.

We are situated 3 hours drive from Johannesburg, approximately 30 km from Machadodorp towards Badplaas, 20 km from Waterval Boven. The farm is in a malaria and bilharzia-free area, with a mild climate.

The Farmhouse offers three comfortable bedrooms, furnished with double and bunk beds. The rooms share a bathroom that consists of a bath and shower which is run by a gas geyser. The kitchen is equipped with a 2 plate gas stove and a gas fridge/freezer. Water at Oukraalvalle comes from a natural spring.

The lounge is comfortably furnished with a lovely fireplace for those chilly nights.

This is the ideal accommodation for outdoor enthusiasts, nature lovers and anyone wanting to get away to the country side. Bird-watching is amazing and there are many rare species here. Tree enthusiasts have the opportunity of identifying many uncommon species of trees, shrubs, orchids and ferns. The walk to the waterfall is approximately 2 km, winding through the forest and criss-crossing the stream in several places under the canopy of large indigenous trees. Scattered in the forest are remnants of old stone structures, some of which are supposedly several thousand years old and are under study at present. The forest is beautiful, friendly and safe.

Your four legged children are more than welcome to stay at Oukraalvalle.

Guests are welcome to bring along their quad and mountain bikes. For the fishermen, various trout farms are a short drive away as well as the Misty Valley Lodge Game Farm. Those looking to do a bit more driving can visit the Sudwala Caves or the Kruger National Park which is about an hour away. Dullstroom is 60 km away and the Forever Badplaas Resort is a 45-minute drive away.

  • "Very peaceful and nice place"

    20 December 2012

"We really enjoyed the stay at Oukraalvalle which is a very nice, well-equipped house with a beautiful surrounding. The information before and after the stay was very uncomplicated and friendly. The only thing which was a little bit bad was the way how to get there; the description of directions were a little bit confusing; but at least the owner phoned us to assist which we appreciated. The road to the establishment was in a very bad condition, our taxi struggled to make the way. But - viewed all in all, the stay was really nice and we loved to be there!"
