• "A delightful treasure"

  "We did not use this accommodation as an overnight, we actually came here as a destination. What we found was a warm and friendly host who made sure we had everything we needed for a wonderful, comfortable farm stay. The rooms may be basic but they are super-comfy. The shower is hot with great pressure. The fireplace is huge and there is ample comfortable seating with a TV and dstv channels. The clean air and silence are just tremendous. We were lucky to see wild ostriches and see the Orange river come down in flood. We loved climbing the sand dunes around the farm. If I owned a helicopter, I would visit on a monthly basis. Alas I live so far away. This was a wonderful find and we will absolutely return."

  "Spogplaas is a rustic, lovely collection of chalets with a well-equipped kitchen and shared gathering area. We had everything we needed for a relaxed stay. The hosts were very welcoming and saw to our every need, and we will visit again!"

  "In die middel van nerens hierdie interessante plek. Ons is hartlik ontvang deur die gasvrou. Die slaapkamer en badkamers is skoon en netjies met alles wat nodig is vir oornag. Die gesamentlike braai/kombuis/kuier area het 'n lekker atmosfeer met alles wat nodig vir kosmaak en braai."

  "It's close to the border and I would suggest crossing the border at Alexander Bay due to the road on the SA side which is terrible. One night stay is fine as a stop over."

  "I booked a 2 person self catering chalet, and got a 3 house bedroom house with no electricity, fridge or hot water. Very disappointing... Did not go back on the return journey as booked"

  "I arrived with a little trepidation, having been told that there was a problem with the electricity supply and that a generator would run only for a few hours a day. Nearly had me heading for the hills!! But....... so glad I stayed. This quirky little place right on the SA/Namibia boarder overlooks the Orange River offers really good value for money, is spotlessly clean and an all round good find. Granted it's not 4* but I had 4* treatment, AnnMarie, Solume and Marlyn could not have done any more for me. They took me into their home with open arms, nothing was too much trouble, even organising a 'road trip' to a nearby township. I hope that Eskom get the electricity supply sorted very soon as this is having a detrimental affect on Spogplaas and the surrounding farms. Come on Eskom, pull finger and get it sorted, 6 months is a long time!!! Thanks again to my hosts, planning to get back there next year on my retirement trip around SA."

  "Morning,<br /><br />When we arrived at Spogplaas at midday of April 13th, we were told by the owners that they informed SafariNow a few days prior to our arrival that they could not receive any guests because, due to circumstances, they had no water and no electricity. As the booking went throu SafariNow directly, the owners assured&nbsp; us that SafariNow was asked to inform all guests that nobody could be received during that period of time. If this is correct, and as we didn't receive any notification, we are very disappointed in the way SafariNow is handling it's customers. We were lucky that we could find another place to stay (at +60 kms !) in this rather desperate part of the country.<br />On the other side we were quite happy that the owners were spontainiously prepared to reimburse us in cash the prepayment of R400. <br />If everything we were told is correct, I think a simple apology will not solve this matter.<br />Please let me know.<br />Regards,<br />Jan Roebben"
