Kleindoorn Guest House

Kleindoorn Guest House, 28 km north-east of Barrydale, is a typical Karoo farmhouse dating back to 1834. It is also a stone's throw away from the boundaries of Boosmansbos Wilderness area. Escape from the city and television at this secluded farm retreat, sit on the thatched veranda stoep and enjoy all the peace and privacy our rustic self-catering establishment has to offer.

Free and unlimited WiFi makes Kleindoorn Guest House the perfect remote work destination.

Bird watching is a great attraction here too. Hundreds of endemic birds can be found on the farm, a very unique feature of the area. We keep bird spotting lists in the guest house for guests' personal use.

The house, overlooking vegetable fields and an apricot orchard, is a cool space with high ceilings. Two bedrooms include a double bed each, and one bedroom has twin beds. Three divans and a sleeper couch can be found in the living areas. The guest house sleeps up to 10 people.

Our rustic kitchen is equipped with a microwave oven, toaster, kettle, electric frying pan, a mini oven with 2 hotplates, refrigerator-freezer, cutlery and crockery, basic kitchen essentials, and an indoor fireplace.

A washing machine and outside washing line is available for guests' use (no laundry detergent provided).

For your safety, the house is equipped with a smoke detector and a fire extinguisher.

If you are looking for a hideaway to relax, or a private base for energizing activities, you'll find it all here. There are plenty to discover, experience and explore in the area around the guest house. Hiking, swimming in plunge pools under two waterfalls (45 minutes' walk away), mountain biking, putting two of our 4 x 4 trails to the test, bird watching, stargazing, meditating & yoga, cooling off in one of many dams on the farm, barbecuing, observing farm activities, landscape and macro photography, and flora and fauna recognition are just some of the activities to keep you occupied. Firewood for barbecuing and homemade boerewors are available on request.

Situated in near proximity to the popular tourist Route 62 one of the longest wine routes in the world- our guest house serves as the ideal stopover on your scenic journey. For more info on activities in the surrounding area please visit our website.

The house is rented as a whole (one unit) to assure your absolute privacy.

"We really had a lovely time at Kleindoorn Guest House. You can really unwind and relax in this peaceful place. If they sorted out the mattress of the bed in the main bedroom next to the bathroom with the bath, it would be great - not a comfortable bed at all. Other than that, a lovely place to break away to."

"Such a peaceful getaway in a beautiful part of the Western Cape. The indoor fire kept us warm during the chilly evenings and we wanted for nothing as everything had been catered for. Bertus was a fantastic host and we enjoyed the privacy the guesthouse offered."

  • "Hidden Surprises"

    15 December 2013

"The house is kind and rustic Cape Dutch set in the Apricot Orchards, but the surprise is in the rock pools and waterfalls to be discovered by hike or 4x4! This alone is worth a visit."
