  "The Vale is a convenient stopover to or from Cape Town with safe parking but the acoustics of the stone cottages are problematic. Our neighbours were talking normally inside their room and we could hear ever word which is not ideal at midnight."

  "We enjoyed the dinner and had a super comfortable bed. There were two spiders in the room but we managed to get rid of them. The shower was good and we have nothing to complain about."

  "We were offered the option to book a 3 course dinner in advance for the evening of our booking - Christmas Day - which we did, only to be told via sms 2 hours before our arrival that the staff have been given off and no dinner will be provided. We had to stop at Three Sisters Steers takeaway and get steak rolls for dinner. Very disappointing. The room and bathroom are very dark, not even a bar of soap provided, no tea/coffee tray in the room. Roosters waking us up at 3.45am.........<div>Very pretty gardens of the farmhouse but we will not stay at this establishment again.</div><div></div><div>Lisa</div>"

  "Disappointing small cottages. Very small bathrooms and only one fan to use in a two bedroom unit. Not accommodating when asked for another. Very hot and the green, slimy pool is the only cooling off option. There are way better options for stay overs if it's a Karoo Experience you are after."

  "We really enjoyed the setting as well as the warmth and hospitality of our hosts. Nothing was too much trouble. A swim in the dam brought back many fond childhood memories and sipping a mojito under the pepper tree while braaing was a fitting end to a long hot day of traveling. We'll certainly stay at Vale Karoo Farm again."

  "While the Vale Karoo Farm is a far from the crowd place. It was frightfully expensive R822. for one night for a pokey room inside the house with a noisy thoroughfare right next to the kitchen and since it is an old farm house wooden floors did not make the noise any less. Would I recommend? definitely not we paid R422 per night in at a reserve in Springbok and had a whole house to ourselves"

  "The accommodation is really nice and comfortable, but we were very disappointed when our neighbours arrived at 2 in the morning and we realised there is no sound proofing. We could hear every little sound they made, like they were standing in our bedroom. We then didn't sleep at all the rest of the night, wondering if everyone else could hear our 1 month old baby the whole night."

  "We wanted to break up the drive from Cape Town to Bloemfontein and this was the perfect spot. Around halfway... Peaceful... The cottages were full of character... Comfy beds toasty warm electric blankets in the cold weather... The children could move around freely with a small play area... Baby goats to view and turtles... To save time we organised dinner and breakfast in the main house... We enjoyed the brai area at night... Lovely."

  "Family accommodation in the stone chalets is dark, gloomy and extremely cramped. The "two rooms" consist of a bedroom which sleeps 3 squashed up close, and 2 beds placed in the already cramped KITCHEN!! The kitchen is inadequately equipped, with no hot plate. Only a microwave for cooking, and no microwave bowls or dishes provided. We were unable to cook a simple meal of pasta and meat for the kids.Family rooms in the lodge seem better, but they are overpriced."

  "Fantastic stop over from JHB to Knysna - swimming in the Farm Dam until 18h45, and again at 6h00 was refreshing, and a novel experience for my "city" kids. Walking in the Karoo was fun, and the lamb chops braai we had was the best ever!"

  "The Vale was one of our stopovers this holiday, January 2012. We stayed in a stone cottage and had a lovely time! The boys really enjoyed the farm animals, swimming in the clean dam and the breakfast was good value-for-money. We will return."

  "Baie dankie vir 'n lekker kuier by julle. Die Stone Cottages pragtig en lekker warm beddens. Julle kos is uitstekend, uit die boonste rakke en ons het die heel lekkerste driegang maaltyd geniet. Julle pampoen koekies en Jan Ellis poeding is wenners! Compliments to the chef! Ons kom kuier defnitief weer en sal julle aanbeveel vir al ons vriende en familie. Thank you for an enjoyable visit. The Stone Cottages were beautiful and the beds comfortable. The food was excellent. We had the greatest three-course meal. Your food is great! Compliments to the chef. We will definitely visit again and recommend you to all our friends."

  " It was very welcoming to arrive after 2 days travelling in a very small car that had broken down earlier that day, the rooms were clean, cosy, comfortable.wonderful fresh Karoo air and atmosphere. A delicious Karoo lamb dinner served in the old and very interesting Manor House helped ease our tiredness and help us to relax. Hanli the hostess, was amazing even though she was not well at all she treated us as if we were her only guests. Highly recommended."

  "As there was a change in our holiday plans, our son & wife had the pleasure of staying at the farm.On their arrival they received a friendly welcome and thoroughly enjoyed the plate of “real boere kos”.As they had to meet us in Cape Town, they were unable to stay for breakfast. I was pleasantly surprisedwhile watching “Pasella” to see one of the presenters on a 4x4 drive, which took place on the farm.Many thanks for making the stay very comfortable and if ever we have the opportunity of motoring to the Cape, we will certainly make “Vale Karoo” our pit stop."

  "We arrived at the venue (got a little lost) and we were pleasantly surprised at how hidden the place was.The gravel road lead to a stonehouse establishment which doesn't give much out until you enter the rooms.Spotless clean white linen, and very welcoming atmosphere.Few metres from the N1 but you sleep like a baby.Yes I would definitely sleep there again.Pity we left before breakfast time! Thanks to management for making our stay pleasurable."

I'm glad we decided to stay for breakfast as the home-made sausages were amazing and the antique-filled dining room is definitely worth a visit. So much care has gone into the elegant and old-world decorating of this establishment - its utterly charming."
