  "We arrived during a power outage which apparently occurs often in this area. Unlike other establishments, there was no welcoming letter advising us of highlights in the vicinity, problems such as marauding baboons, power outages or any other factors that could affect our stay. The only information available was a tatty 2015 brochure on Stellenbosch which is 70kms away. We tried to contact the owners to find out what the situation is regarding power failures but we are now at home and have not had a reply. We had to resort to walking around asking neighbours why there was no power. With these problems in mind one would think that at least a candle and matches would be provided. Sadly the only provisions were one-third of a bottle of dishwashing liquid, two toilet rolls and nothing else. We were not made aware of the cuts in power for hours at a time, or the danger of marauding baboons. We had enquired about the state of the surrounding roads before we booked and were not told that there are large, deep potholes around the property. The bathroom had black mould on the tiles and the cupboards smelt damp and musty. The kitchen counter amazingly had patches of rust. Definitely, the worst place we have ever stayed and the first one where we have not felt inclined to leave a gratuity as we never saw anyone to give it to.<br/><br/>Establishments Response:<br/>It is unfortunate that you did not enjoy your stay at fynbos cottage. <br/><br/>As our reviews show, previous guests have rated fynbos cottage 4 stars for cleanliness, comfort, location, facilities and value for money.<br/><br/>Thank you for bringing to my attention all the aspects you were unsatisfied with.   "Vir die prys is dit waarde vir geld. Die ligging daarteen is nie goed nie want jy kyk vas in die huis voor jou se motorhuis deure en die inwoners daar timmer, sweis en grine van vroeg oggend tot saans laat. Die huis is goed toegrus maar daar is geen braaipan nie. Ek wou nie graag die mooi pot op die vuur sit om die vleis warm te hou nie. Saans raas die yskas so dat jy nie kan slaap nie, maar die eienaars kan dit sekerlik oplos. Ek dink ook net dat daar nuwe fotos geplaas moet word, want die huidige fotos weerspieel nie werklik wat daar tans is teenoor dit wat op die fotos is nie. Groete Wendy van Zyl"

  "We had a super weekend at Fynbos. Just loved the comfortable, cosy cottage with its private and beautiful view of the mountains, and sand dune. We enjoyed a braai on the patio as the sun set and the birds from the nearby wet land flew past on their way to nest for the night. Super comfortable beds and lovely outdoor shower. All you need for a relaxing weekend away. The second bathroom could do with an extractor fan as there is no air flow. Thanks so much Mandy. It was awesome!!!!"

  "We really enjoyed our stay at Fynbos Cottage in Betty's Bay in December/January. It is still affordable within our budget. Silversands Beach is in easy walking distance. Innocent the care taker was very friendly and helpful. He also cleaned the Cottage every 3rd day and gave a change of bed linen and towels. We will definitely be back. One remark though: the mattresses on the single beds need replacement. Otherwise: excellent!"

  "Fynbos Cottage exceeded our expectations. We will be back shortly. Only two points of criticism, there were salt and pepper pots but they were empty and the bedroom curtains does not keep the sun out at all so you wake up real early. Apart from that we were very impressed and will recommend Fynbos Cottage to anyone who wants to visit this lovely town."

  "Good holiday getaway for 4. Innocent, the manager, welcomed us with a big smile. He is incredibly efficient and hardworking but I think he has too much on his plate. We had trouble with a fridge that didn't work properly. Hopefully it gets sorted out quickly. Lovely garden, quiet spot. Kids enjoyed having Dstv."
