There is great pleasure in living in the outskirts of Cape Town being close to the Blouberg beaches and Durbanville wine farms. One can be thankful for the new drop and go bus route at Bayside Shopping Centre to pop into the town or V&A Waterfront without any stress of the morning traffic. The school is on your doorstep, Virgin Active around the bend and take a stroll to the Rietvlei bird sanctuary to feed the ducks, water ski or keep your boat there to sail. Become a member of the Yacht Club and enjoy events, the pub and all it offers.
The house on the hill overlooks the City of Cape Town with a beautiful majestic backdrop of Table Mountain. One can see the Cape Flats on towards Simonstown and the Durbanville Hills to be close for a Wine Tour. A lovely home with loads of Mediterranean character and a Tuscan feel offering your own slice of Italy in the Cape. The large tropical private garden offers an entertainers delight with Pizza oven, grill and under thatch bar all next to the pool.
The fairy garden, palms, irrigation system adds to the grass and cobbled outlay. Enjoy the flow. The large open plan kitchen overlooks the lounge and fireplace. The doors of the lounge and large dining room lead out onto the partially enclosed secure eatery overlooking the garden. The main en suite has its dressing room and bathroom with double sink and shower. The Romeo and Juliet balcony leads down to the pool and onto a large private sunny balcony with views of the mountain.
The African and Cape downstairs double bedrooms share a bathroom. The annex leading out to the back garden and Wendy house has a double bedroom and bathroom. The breathtaking Art studio, family room and office have French doors leading to a large Moroccan styled balcony under thatch and overlooks the park. There is plenty of off street parking in the cobbled garden and in front of the double alarmed garage. A special Private retreat, loads of potential as a villa, B&B or home with views.
"Gorgeous room and lovely hostess who was very accommodating. Would definitely go back"
"Not only was I welcomed as if i was family, but my dog was also treated (and spoiled). The room was perfect and the whole setting was filled with tranquility. Harriet is one amazing person with a heart of gold. I would go there again with my dog without any doubt. Thank you for the awesome visit"
"This is a lovely place with a wonderful and accommodating owner. The owner makes you feel right at home and there is a lovely garden if you have pets.It is a comfortable, clean and inviting stay."
"What a very disappointing holiday experience for me and family! The accommodation was not of high standards, according to whats being advertised on the internet. We feel very mislead and taken advantage of.We expected a fresh, clean place on arrival and this was not the case as the floors were not even swept. The carpets are not kept clean, no cleaning services available to clean the rooms, no clean sheets offered for the duration of our stay!!!? The shower door in our room was not even in operation. There was a huge white/grey stain in the bath that was covered with a mat and there was no way we were going to use that bath.Furthermore, the wooden window frames could not even open, very stiff and hard to open. There was mention of a butler, to no avail. The pool was nothing like the picture weve seen on the internet, dark green and the level of the water was low. . (PS) We did however know about the water crisis in Cape Town, but still? Mention it anyway as a reminder. Therefore our expectations were not met and wanted to cancel the accommodation immediately, unfortunately we were told by Harriet that its too late for a refund because she will not get any tenants to fill the booking. We had nowhere to go and unfortunately, couldnt get hold of SafriNow.com on the 29 December 2017 @17:10pm as the office hours were from 8am to 5pm, so we had to make do with the situation. Lots of mosquitoes and spiders, could have at least fumigated the place. We had a very uncomfortable stay and ended up with extra expenses living on take-outs as we did not make use of the self-accommodation facilities"
"Thank you, we really had a great time. Very warm welcome and above all we appreciated her giving us info about the town and popular attractions that was very helpful. We also appreciate the flexibility sho had for check out time. Great experience. Thank you."
"Decent getaway for more of holiday or recreational purposes. A bit lacking on the tech side (DSTV, wifi etc). Lovely garden and braai area."
"very nice will defiantly stay there again if we go to cape town <br />"
"We booked an en siute room, when we arrived we were informed that we have been moved to another room, but we can still have the en suite but there is a price difference. There is no TV in the room you have to watch in the lounge, where they have guests. Carpets on the stairs are dirty and hostess anything but friendly. We seeked alternate accommodation."

"I send my mother and her friend to Avocet Viila B&B and they had a awesome time. Everything was perfect they said enjoyed the peaceand quiet and Harriet was very helpful and friendly. She even took them to the Market and not many peope do that for there guest. So a special thank you to Harriet my mother and friend is happy and that is all i wanted. they will be back thats for sure"
"<p>Harriet has a number of rooms at the Avocet B&B - I stayed in the smallest one (the Jade Room), which was comfortable and had lovely artwork. I shared a bathroom with Harriet. </p><p>The B&B looks very much like a normal house, without separate entrances for guests. Some people may not like that. Check-out / check-in times don't seem to be very flexible.</p><p>But Harriet was very friendly and helpful and offers breakfast at a very reasonable price as well.</p>"
"We enjoyed our stay at Avocet Villa. Harriet was very helpful and friendly advising us about visiting Cape Town as well as the western cape."
"DISAPPOINTING!"
"It was a pleasure to stay at this place. The owner was so welcoming and ensured that we felt at home. Most of our needs were catered for."
"We stayed with our daughter and grandchildren at Avocet guest house from 19 December 2011 to 3 January 2012, and we all enjoyed it very much. Harriet was a perfect hostess who also made very nice dinners for us. All-in-all, a very enjoyable holiday."
"Not as expected"
"As a family we enjoyed the stay at Avocet. It is warm, friendly and like home. You can relax, self cater and it is a safe environment."
"Harriett was a great host for my family and friends, making us all feel very welcome after a long journey. A beautiful place to stay. Wish it was for longer."
"My family and I were received with true hospitality, friendliness and style. The food was the best and we went home with new trendy ideas for preparing meals. We had traditional Italian meals, seafood paella and excellent wines. The art classes were a highlight and when looking at out paintings we will always be reminded of the wonderful time we spent in Cape Town. Dear Harriet and Neena, thanks for making our holiday so special."
