Elephant Leisure Resort

Here sits 10 self catering cottages that sleeps 2 or 4 people each with the option of adding one more person on a sleeper couch for R150 extra. The double cottages (units 10, 5, 4 and 1) have separate on suite bathrooms and the layout of the single cottages is that of a bachelors flat. All units are private, alone standing and each has its own jucuzzi, most with views, an outside braai area, and an indoor fire place. It is of great importance to us to enable each guest to connect to the surrounding landscape as much as possible. We are about a true sense of discovery and amazement in the face of natures exquisite complexity. We love simple things made well like bread and wine. There are always something happening whether we are baking bread or attending to the gardens. A tractor from our farming neighbours may pass your cottage as they go further up in the kloof to check water lines. You may meet fellow guests up in the mountains on one of our trails. All of this is who we are and we invite you along for the journey. The guests have access to a swimming pool, hiking trails and a river, where canoes can be rented (water levels depending). The main building has a bread oven, a large fire place and lawns around the pool for communal gatherings. Not every unit has self phone or wi-fi. The best wi-fi is at units 10 and 9, but those are also the least private units. However, you can access unlimited and free wi-fi at the central building. There is always somebody on site available for all questions and concerns and to give tips on how best to explore the surrounds. There is no food for sale at the resort at this time, but all kitchens are well equipped in the houses and at the central building, which makes it suitable for larger gatherings and events. The town of Citrusdal, a 15 min drive from the resort has a fairly well stocked grocery store, but all specialty products should be purchased in Cape Town. You can purchase fire wood and ice for at the resort. There are numerous good restaurants within a 20 minutes drive from the resort. There are also an array of outdoor activities in close proximity such as ancient Khoi and San rock paintings, waterfalls and deep fresh water swimming pools, and horse back riding. All recommendations for eating and activities will be in a welcome package for you. There is no public transport to the resort. The roads to the resort is well serviced, although the last kilometre is a sandy farm road. You do not need a 4x4 to get here and the surrounding mountains can be explored on foot.

"The cottage is all one needs. Clean, cozy and well equipped. Jacuzzi was the high light of our stay. The only thing I would change is the showerheads. They did not do the wonderfully hot water justice. The sprays were all over the place and not directed where you needed it most."
