Are you looking for a place with magnificent view, juicy green in a silent and peaceful nest, so then you are very welcome to stay here in our very rustic Backpackers Hostel. The Eagles Nest Backpackers Hostel is located on top of a hill in the heart of Coffee Bay, which we are overlooking. It is a small place with a glory of nature by the indian ocean.*We are pat friendly, having geese and cats.OUR ACCOMMODATION OPTIONSOur Hostel is a self-catering cottage with different sections and rooms:The biggest is the Eagles section with two three single bed rooms and one double room with a shared kitchen, two shared bathrooms, a lounge with a big dining table and a balcony with a BBQ.Another 'Falcon' section with a private entrance has two double rooms (2 extra beds possible), a bathroom, a kitchen, a lounge with big windows and a sweet patio with the same beautiful view. Our new room, the Hawk has two bunk beds, a kitchennette, a bathroom, big windows as well as a private entrance. On the bottom part of our cottage are our Buzzard double+1 & Kite double+1 with a kitchennette, an open bathroom, two big windows with a beutiful view.Another one, our Harrier double room on the same floor, it is just the room with a double bed with access to an extern shared kitchennette, shower and toilet. All of them are pretty rustic and with a private entrance. In our garden is a shared BBQ. Here is place for tents also, it is steep though. We want to let you know, that we are here since December'15 creating a Backpackers Hostel. We think it is a wonderful place, we love it and trying to improve where we can, step by step. LOCATIONWe are within walking distance (5 min.) to the beach and some small grocery and bottle stores. The next big shopping option is in Ngcwanguba, 20-30 km distance, which you can reach well by car or take a Shuttle Bus for R14 one way. The Shuttle Bus starts from the main street in Coffee Bay and goes several times up to Ngcwanguba and down again. Here are some HIKING Trails, which direct you to different villages and beautiful places, like Mapuzi, where you can jump from a cliff or just enjoy the Beauty ; or visit the famous 'Hole in the wall'You will find BARS AND RESTAURANTS just some walking minutes away.PLATIPUS ADVENTURES Jack (Shahar) is offering Kite surfing lessons, as well as snorkeling and more activities: 'The only rule is having fun!'The next big city is Mthatha (Umtata), 95km distance. On request we will organise a Shuttle service for you.HOW TO FIND US IN COFFEE BAYYou drive in seeing the 'Welcome to Coffee Bay' sign, just follow that mainroute, you will pass the Sugarloaf on the left side. Go on till you are infront of the yellow 'Papazelas Pizza' sign, then you take the right route up the hill. • "Eagles Nest Coffee Bay"

    05 April 2016

"What a surprise. The worst accommodation we have ever experienced. A shack in an informal settlement would have been better. I cannot think in my wildest dreams that a place like that could be classified as accommodation. Certainly no health or building inspector has ever visited this shack, because I am sure they would have had it torn down. Certainly SafariNow has never visited this shack otherwise you would not advertise it as accommodation. I booked for two nights but fled after the first night and went and booked into a BB in Mmtatha. Only one word for Eagles Nest Coffee Bay, I am disgusted to the core."

  • "Eagles Nest: Not up to standard"

    28 March 2016

"For the price charged Eagles Nest is not up to standard. For example:<br />The unit is very sparsely furnished, kitchen is poorly equipped, even with broken mugs. <br />The mattress is well past its "use by date". <br />The sheets had many holes / tears in. <br />The bathroom door swings open by itself - and there is no door latch to keep it closed when in use.<br />A light switch had bare wire running on the outside: electrocution hazard. <br />Generally the place is in bad shape and poorly maintained. <br />We booked for 3 nights but only stayed for 1. <br />Not recommended!! <br />"

  • "Coffee bay stay"

    12 April 2015

"The cottage have a stunning view, but it leaks when it rains, you have to reverse approximately 100m before you can turn around. The showers and beds is bad news. For the price it is not bad."

  • "Pleasant stay"

    18 January 2015

"I thought the accommodation was good for the price. However, we were only five people (I assume if you're 8 people you might be a bit uncomfortable). The place was very clean and close to the coffee shack (which is a wonderful backpackers). I do recommend that you take a torch as the walk back home at night is very dark. Overall, we enjoyed our stay."

  • "False advertising"

    "Bad Bad Bad."

  • "Urgent make over needed"

    01 April 2013

"Our stay at Eagles Nest was the down side of our stay at Coffee Bay! We arrive at the cabin just to find it still dirty! We had to buy our own cleaning materials to clean the place, just to make it liveble. All the rooms had a bad smell as if a cat has been left there. The last night at Coffee Bay was very rainy, our cabin roof leaket so bad that we called the owner of the cabin, he wasn't very nice about what we showed him. Will we visit Coffee Bay again? YES! Will we stay at Eagles Nest again? Defenately NO!!! What you see on the photo's is not what you get! The place defenately needs a make over before any other people stay there!!!"

  • "Beautiful!"

"A simple, rustic place - but everything you need is here and the view is unforgettable!"

  • "Eagles Nest Coffee Bay"

    13 January 2013

"A clean and rustic offering in a 'rustic area'. The Wild Coast can't be wild with luxurious offering. Everything that one would need for a self-catering stay was available and in working order. The view is special."

  • "Eagles Nest"

    02 May 2012

"Probably the place with the best view in Coffee Bay. The accommodation is very basic but adequate. Remember to bring towels and mosquito repellant. The road leading to Coffee Bay is atrocious (potholes). The roads inside are no better. Very good value for money."

  • "Good"

    15 April 2012

"Everything is perfect. The view is the best and the people are very friendly. Ivy (the maid) was very helpful. They can just maybe look to get a new fridge and freezer; we struggled with that a bit! Perfect place to relax and it's safe!"

  • "Friendly service"

    03 June 2011

"Although the building is in urgent need of repair, doors that do not close properly etc., the friendly service given by Gavin made up for it. The municipal road from the hotel stopped existing a few months ago and it is quite scary to ride on it. The cleaning lady did a very good job. A rugged building in beautiful surroundings. Thank you."
