  "Photos looked good and liked the security it offered. I found the website misleading in that I booked for three separate rooms with ensuite bathrooms. However when I arrived I was told it was a single large room with three beds. So ended up having to get another room. Generally place looked clean as I went in, however on closer inspection the bathroom was not very clean. The mattress was old and uncomfortable with only a single sheet covering the mattress with no mattress protector. Pillows were old and lumpy with no protectors. Aircon/heater was very noisy and therefore struggled to sleep. It was a choice of choosing the cold or noisy heater. We ended up leaving much earlier than anticipated due to nobody getting a good nights sleep. Unfortunately I cannot recommend and wont be back."

  "We stayed for 1 night at the Gables Inn. On arrival, it was 36.5 degrees Celsius, however our air conditioner in the room did not work, i.e. not cooling, only blow hot air. The reception was not adequately man (woman) to service our request to have air-con fixed and we had to wait an hour before someone responded, They blame it on casual labour employed over this time! this was simply ridiculous, if we had know, we would have booked somewhere else. although the rooms was clean, the water in the shower was not running away and if you showered, you had to stand in dirty water."

The light fittings were either loose or missing covers. There is no undercover parking where the cheaper units have shaded parking. There is also no play area for the kids unlike on the cheaper side at least the kids can play on the grass. There is no justification for the extra cost. I'm sorry but I'm quite disappointed.</p>"

  "This was the second time we stayed at Gables inn. December 2014 was fantastic, no complaints at all. However December 2015 was not great at all. Firstly our light in the bedroom was not working and the one bedside lamp did not even have a globe in it. That is still manageable, but the reason I will never stay there again is the fact that our duvet, when I opened it was dirty. It was most definitely not washed after the previous people stayed there. There were white stains on it.This to me is completely unacceptable. It is disgusting."

  "Our room was atrocious, it was filthy with dust under the beds, the toilet was smelling of urine (and we had to purchase our own sanitiser to take the stench away), the bathroom floor was filthy, the shower looked as if it hadn't been cleaned in weeks, and the biggest disappointment was the mattress that had huge brown stains on it, that smelt like old body sweat and smelly feet. The so called 'clean sheets' and duvet cover had the same smell because of the filthy mattress. This is the room that was given to us!!! I would NEVER recommend this place to anybody. This is an experience that no paying customer should have to go through. But thanks to Gotly (one of the supervisors) for arranging a clean bed and clean linen for us to sleep on."

We tried to shower before 21h00 without any hot water. Terrible Terrible Terrible ! Not even the next morning. No hot water and we run the tap for about 10 minutes in hope for hot water. We departed without showering or cleaning ourselves."

Gables Inn appears to be very popular as an overnight stop - we were unable to get accommodation for our return trip as they were fully booked on 8 & 9 January. We will definately use Gables Inn again."

  "The only down side is that there is constant truck movement by the garage where they pull off the road and leave their truck engines idle for up to half a hour at the time. This goes on all night and interrupts you sleep. It's for this reason that we won't stay there again."

  "I slept over for one night on my way to Cape Town for the Cape Argus cycle race. I arrived late at night and left early the next morning. The room was spacious and clean. I will do it again next year, if I drive down."
