Tussen-I-Bome Oxwagon Resort

Tussen-I-Bome Guest Farm is a quaint resort and venue, nestled in the malaria free Bobbejaansberg Mountains a mere 30 minutes, or 26 km from Montana, Pretoria on the KwaMahlango /Moloto road. A unique venue for Weddings, Conferences, Year-end functions, Birthday parties, Family re-unions and Bachelors parties.

We specialize in all types of functions . The rustic Bushveld surroundings and ox-wagon theme of the venue strive to provide a relaxing outdoor experience to individuals, wedding guests and corporate clients. Our guests can experience unspoiled nature to relax and refresh their mind and spirit.

Situated on a Bushveld farm, our venues and accommodation are nestled among an indigenous canopy of trees hence, the name Tussen-I-Bome from the Afrikaans meaning Amongst the trees. There are two swimming pools, one, a rock pool, on the slope of a hill with a balcony overlooking the valley. This is the ideal spot to enjoy a sun downer. The other pool close to the Big Tent and Wagon Tent venue and bar area, lends itself to real summer fun.

Impalas, Zebra and an abundance of bird life offer you the unspoiled tranquility of nature, leaving you free to explore the area at leisure. There are some hiking trials for the more adventurists and a short mountain bike track on the property.

"We loved the wagon experience! Heating your own bath water, bathing in a half wine tub, cooking on a fire, baking your own bread in the outside oven after you filled it with red warm coals, sleeping with only a wagon flap between you and nature. We extended our stay with two days, and was so glad we did. We are so relaxed and peaceful after our stay. Gerhard and Eugene are very friendly. If you need help, advice or wood and ice, Eugene is immediately available. Gerhard loves his resort and is hand-on. He greets his guests every morning and make sure they are comfortable before he retire for the day. Every morning you can expect the sound of Eugene's quat bike and later on Gerhard's jeep looking in at the "Voortrekkers" in their oxwagon private camp. Ask Gerhard to tell you the history of the wagons, how to bake bread, or anything about the resort and he spoil you with his knowledge! The environment is very safe. We slept with our wagon flaps open every night, and never closed or locked anything up. It was very refreshing being so free again. Like all tousism businesses, Tussen-i-bome suffered because of covid 19 and is very vulrenable to any lockdown desicions. Guest do however not have to be scared of covid at this resort. All covid safety procedures are in place and they adhere to it. The distances between the different stands and accomodation are more than the required for social distancing. Tussen-I-Bome; thank you for a very relaxed, uplifting get away. It was our first time with you, but look out for us! We are coming back. Andcwe will be regular guests!"

"The vegetation was magnificent. We really felt away from the hustle and bustle of town. The sunset from the top of the hill was glorious. We were in the guest house and the kitchen was fully equipped. Lovely hosts who bent over to please us and magnificent breakfasts. Only the coffee machine missing. We lovedvthe regular visits of the resident zebras."

    21 March 2017

"We loved the experience of camping without the hard work of setting up.The Ox wagon 'bedroom' brought a little bit of history to the experience and the barrel bath was the highlight for the kids. Suddenly we all appreciate our geyser a bit more after having to heat the water for the bath on the fire in a donkey (There are ablutions for the not so adventurous, but why spoil the fun). The relief on the kids' faces was priceless after being told that the toilet was a pit toilet with a flush handle as back up. Will definitely go back for a bush experience so close to home. Thanks Gerhard for a fabulous time"

  • "Awesome 'Voortrekker' Experience"

    23 April 2015

"Picked Tussen-I-Bome Oxwagon resort as my girlfriend had never been to South Africa before and I wanted to show her as much history and contrast as possible. She had no idea where we were heading and was astounded when we arrived. Special setting in the bush with our own wagon, braai area, toilet and bath. Could not have been better. Gerhard was an attentive host considering he was quite busy and took time to explain the background to the resort. I would recommend this experience to any tourists visiting the Pretoria/Cullinan area. We even got visited by a zebra!"

  • "Such a great weekend!"

    03 March 2015

"It was our first 'camping' trip with our young kids, and we had an absolutely wonderful time at Tussen-I-Bome! The oxwagon and adjoining tent were very comfortable, the campsite was clean and had all the utensils we needed, and the resort itself had more than enough to keep us busy. Gerhard catered two meals for us - a potjie and a braai - both of which were delicious. We will definitely be back!"

  • "Possibly the best place to unwind"

    14 April 2014

"Just short of being treated as royalty, from booking to leaving the comfort and hospitality was extraordinary. Service impeccable there was not one thing that I could fault for this is the place you want to be to unwind, you become a part of nature appreciating our forefathers trials and the history of our country. The food was marvellous with a bottle of bubbly on arrival the professional security compliment greeting us by name on arrival. The wildlife is also a treat especially the zebra. The hidden rock pool is an absolute must the climb is well worth the effort, take a look around over the deck. The fully serviced bar with the authentic historic feel is like a true step back in time. This is one of those treasures off the beaten track that is an absolute must."

Made us feel so special and cared for.Sleeping in a ox wagon, doing things the way the Voortrekkers did. Just amazing. Rock pool with the most amazing view I have ever seen. The kids was crying when we had to leave."

  • "Great"

    03 March 2014

"Camping in luxury and the best part is you do not have to take the luxury with you, all is provided. The kids were ecstatic and the quietness of the place is good for the soul."
