Voelgesang Farmstay is located on a working farm at the foot of the majestic Swartberg Mountains. Here is where guests can enjoy the bright stars and silence of the Little Karoo.
Guests have a choice of staying in one of eight Self-catering Units with a big patio to sit and relax. The units offer double beds and bathrooms with baths and showers; we provide clean linen and towels for convenience. The kitchens are fully equipped with stoves, microwaves and fridges, and guests can relax in their private lounge areas. There are barbecue facilities and safe parking.
When visiting Voelgesang Farmstay, guests can go on walks, do birdwatching or bring their own bicycle or quad bike to explore the farm. There are also hiking trails up the mountainside between huge aloes and across the many perennial mountain streams. Those looking to explore some more can do the De Rust Historic Tours, go on a wine tasting tour at Mons Ruber and Domein Doornkraal; visit the magnificent waterfall hidden in Meiringspoort Pass or the Cango Caves at Oudtshoorn.

"What a delight it was to stay at Voelgesang! It was so much more than what we had anticipated.<div><br /></div><div>We intended to stay in Oudtshoorn on our holiday but could not find any accommodation due to a festival being held there. I am very glad there was a festival as Voelgesang exceeded our expectations and is situated in the more picturesque town of De Rust!</div><div><br /></div><div>An added bonus is that Meiringspoort Pass is a stone's throw away from this location and is definitely worth the drive from Oudtshoorn!</div>"
"Sadly, what was described as self catering was in fact "no catering". The couple running the place were very friendly and pleasant enough, but a bedroom accessed via other (unused) bedrooms, a shared bathroom in the main house with the owners and the offer to make ourselves coffee in their private kitchen is not as expected. Nothing in town was open except a run-down bar serving drunken agricultural workers, and the carefully prepared cool-box contents for an evening braai had to be dumped in the absence of any facilities to cook or even store the contents overnight. The main house was clean if a bit old-world and fusty, but the surrounding farm, which we were invited to walk on, was another story, with dilapidated staff houses, barns, scrap and farm junk lying around, children and overcrowded workers accommodation with half-naked children playing in the dirt around scavenged animal carcasses and knee-high rubbish mounds of nappies, bottles and cans (maybe we walked where we weren't meant to). Disappointing to say the least, we left at 6AM given that any breakfast - self-cooked or not - was not an option, and put distance between us an the place. Shame, but to be avoided."
"Nice farm, very quiet. Friendly people.Cold water in the buitenkamer. They forgot to put the switch on for hot water."
"We enjoyed our stay at Volgesang. The facility is good and fairly well equipped for self catering."
