  • "Safaris with Matt and William"

    27 November 2018

"The whole trip was perfect from start to end. Nothing was too much trouble fir anyone. Restaurant staff great, reception staff very helpful and charming. William tracked our animals and Matt answered all of our questions, and we had many. Loved the free roaming zebra monkeys and deer around our lodge. Will be coming back"

  • "The game drives were really fantastic. Great game rangers and trackers. The food was also good."

    20 October 2017

"Our stay at Mongena was lovely, however the room that we had was right by the entrance/reception which meant it was very noisy. There were some big groups while we there so noise levels were really loud . The service at Kingfisher restaurant can also be improved. The waiters themselves were lovely but the service was rather slow. We loved that the Zebras and Nyalas walked freely through the Lodge! Overall we had great time and would recommend Mongena to friends. We look forward to our next visit."

  • "Kingfisher Experience"

    08 August 2017

"The food at the restaurant was great, the service was sometimes a little slow but the manager was very attentive. The room was lovely and had a great view, we stayed in the honeymoon suite. Now for the disappointments:1. There was no bell boy, or even a guide to take us to the room. We did get lost and had to ask around.2. There was nothing extra in the honeymoon suite. I mean like, a small bottle of champagne or a fruit plate. 3. The room is above the public toilets for the restaurant. This meant that when someone went to the toilet they walked past our room. The curtains were closed but the walkway is wooden and very noisy. Also, when the cleaning staff cleaned the toilets in the morning, they could be heard throughout our room.4. There was constant traffic on the walkway outside our room. This started early in the morning as staff used it when traveling between the kitchen and the rest of the grounds.5. Twice there were other guests on our 'private' deck. This was frustrating as they then had a full view into our room. Plus having to go and ask people to move away is not pleasant. 6. Breakfast was great, but the first two days there was a buffet and the third day it was plated. This is fine, but there was no mention of this prior to breakfast. At other hotels they tell you this information beforehand. 7. Upon checking out, they gave me an old receipt that didn't show that I had already paid the fare in full. 8. The selection of DSTV channels is really awful. They could at least provide a guide or a list of the channels that are available. Scrolling through hundreds of invalid channels was frustrating. The gas fire was lovely, the staff were pleasant and the grounds are great. But for the price, I don't think it was worth it."

"Staying at Mongena was such a pleasurable experience. The staff were always ready and willing to help, and always greeted us with friendly smiles. The food was incredible. Thank you for a brilliant stay."

  • "Well maintained"

    24 September 2013

"Well maintained lodge, all the staff except the reception staff were very friendly. Game drive was a little disappointing, very few animals located, seems as if their main attraction is 2 elephants, a little misleading to claim that they have the big 5 when in fact the whole Dineokeng possible has the big 5 but not specifically in Mongena."

  • "Value for money"

    02 April 2013

"Absolute tranquility, well spaced out units for the required privacy, amazing surrounding, smiling and helpful staff makes Mongena Game Lodge. Not to forget, the Kingfisher restaurant delectable, luscious yet balance menu."
