Oewerzicht Tented River Lodge & Farm Cottages
Oewerzicht farm is located in the peaceful and picturesque Greyton Valley only 9 km from Greyton. Oewerzicht is an operational farm with fresh apples and pears available from January to May. The rest of the 600 ha farm consists of rolling wheat lands, many cattle and a herd of Reebok. Birdwatchers will also be delighted to see, amongst other, blue cranes, secretary birds, and large flocks of guinea fowl. You are of course free to hike all over the place, or bring your mountain bikes along to enjoy the farm. We also have fishing rods, tractor tubes. There are two lovely braai facilities on the riverbank to use.
Oewerzicht farm has six stone cottages each with its en-suite bathroom and seven cottages. Welgele and Bergzicht are semi-detached and was the original farmhouse. The old blue gum ceilings and Oregon pine doors creates a real farmhouse atmosphere. The cottages are located on the edge of an apple orchard and about 100 m from the Riviersonderend River where you can do some excellent bass fishing.
Each cottage has its own outside as well as an inside braai facility. The cottages are decorated with old Oregon pine and oak furniture that enhances the atmosphere.
Uitsig are four freestanding cottages set next to each other about 300 m from the river on a hill with spectacular mountain views. Each cottage has two bedrooms with double beds, two bathrooms, and open plan kitchen living room area with inside as well as outside braai facilities. Uitsig cottages do have a swimming pool between the four. All seven cottages are fully-equipped with all essential appliances. Towels, linen and wood are provided. Please note that we only accept two night bookings over weekends. During the week we do accept one night bookings.
Welgelee, Uitsig 1 & 4 have private hot tubs on their veranda's and the six stone cottages has a communal hot tub on the river bank. ideal for individual or groups

"Die stilte"
15 February 2021"Die hele plek is baie mooi grasperke netjies gesamentlike kombuis fantasies uitgel en alles wat jy nodig het. Ons kamer was ongelooflik warm en die waaier was def nie genoeg sal aanbeveel vir lug versorgers. Die bedkassie is in flarde so ek kon dit nie gebruik nie. Die gordyne aan die voorkant is nie skoon nie hande merke ens. Ons het bly bel sodat ons kon ys en hout koop maar elke keer net n antwoord masjien gekry, en ons ry toe na ontvangs toe geen mens in sig om ons te voorsien van ons basiese behoefes nie. Moes heeltyd in ry dorp toe om bogenoemde te bekom. Die yskas werk nie 100% nie ek ons in die slaai rak was dit half vol water. Geen plek om ons ys in gevries te hou nie. Dit sal heerlik gewees het om n dek te h voor die huisie want as jy van jou stoepie af klim is daar nie regtig plek om te staan nie want jy gaan dan afwaart val tot in die rivier. Geen drom vir bottels en ander items nie. Was mooi en rustig maar daar is kans vir verbetering vir die prys per nag wat mens betaal."

"Bad service"
29 September 2019"We arrived at Oewerzicht at 10pm, as we were working late. There was no service, and we could not call anyone to hear where reception is so we can get our key for the cottage. After about min of driving up and down, and knocking on the reception door we drove past some campers who showed us where the house is where the lady with the keys stay. We drove back o the same house we were at before, and I had to knock and scream to get attention of this lady. After we finally heard we dont need a key, we were looking for the bridge for another 30 min or so. The lady gave us totally wrong directions, and explained to drive past the campsite (showing to the left - Greyton side). It was totally dark, and we could not see anything. The campers finally helped us to the bridge, where we were searching for the place we stay, again!!! There was no visible house name or any guidance as to where to go. After knocking at a few doors, we finally found a house with no one in, and the lights were on - million mosquitoes greeted us, and we could close a eye. If you have staff that is more helpful (or helpful at all), and visible signage as to where an d how to go around it would've actually be a nice weekend. Very very disappointing"

The stay in the safari tent was very private and comfortable - it was lovely not having cellphone signal and we left feeling very relaxed having enjoyed each other's company and the beautiful setting around us. The communal kitchen is well-equipped and the staff were very friendly and helpful. We also enjoyed the friendly farm dogs. Highly recommended for a relaxing breakaway from the city!"

The only complaint is the smell of sewage which seemed to waft from the en-suite outdoor bathroom into the bedroom - especially in the evenings and night! Slept with windows open to try to breathe some fresh air! Otherwise, very happy with our stay."

This is in a very nice setting. The files were just extremely bad, in and around the tent. The kitchen is quite far from the tents. This is the right place to relax after a long week."
