"The perception that there is a outlook over a waterhole is untrue. No waterhole that I saw."

  • "We most deffintely did not enjoy our stay."

    27 September 2017

"Stockpoort temp was 35*. Arriving in the room the air conditioner did not work. Inspection of the bed, found the bed had no mattress cover, winter top and bottom sheets, a duvet, only two pillows on the bed that are so old that they are not pillows anymore, all lumpy!! The room door did not close correctly it had to be locked to close it. Basin had no plug. The shower head quite in adequate. Was difficult to get under the water properly. (Neither of us are fat or big people). Only one bedside lamp for two people. There were two mats on the floor which were of no use other than to trip a person, which one did. It slide out from under my feet, fortunately I fell onto the bed. They were old, dirty and very unappealing. When I complained about the bed and asked for summer sheets it seemed to be a major problem finding sheets. I asked to be moved into another room which also had winter sheets on the bed. The pillows on this bed were as bad as the pillows in the first room. After a while a set of cotton sheets were produced. For supper we asked for two rump steaks, medium to rear, the thicker steak was very under done the second was very over done and tough. I wondered if it had been cooked in the microwave. The vegetables had obviously been microwaved as they were hardly hot. After dinner we weren't even offered coffee. Curtains in the dinning room were torn.Every day normal house keeping is non existent in the establishment. We most definitely will not return there or recommend it to anybody."

  • "Very disappointing stay, never again!"

"1. Only 1 broken bedside lamp in the room.2. Double bed - only fitted sheet and VERY thin bedspread, with 2 pillows on bed. Not even a top sheet or blanket! On investigation, found a SINGLE duvet in the cupboard, all bundled up. Had to ask lady in reception to find us new bedlinen, since it was a VERY cold night! She claims there is not enough linen for all the beds!3. No bench to put your luggage on - the rooms are extremely small!4. Room and bathroom very dusty!5. Shower head not fuctioning at all, had to take it off in order to shower!6. Safarinow advertises room with TV & DSTV - non-existing!7. We ordered steak for dinner - 1 rare and 1 medium rare - we received both welldone steaks, with ONLY chips as a side - not even a piece of green - a la carte? NO, bad pub fare, and for the price of a Sandton steak!8. Breakfast - we were not even asked how we would like our eggs - received over dried, leathery eggs - when we complained, the poor lady burst into tears and said she is not the chef - that lady went off to town! This was overall the worst experience we have had in a long time, and it is not cheap!Kobus en Alett du Plessis"

  • "A lovely stop after a long day ..."

    06 August 2017

"The chalets are pristine clean and tastefully decorated; hosts are friendly and staff are efficient... a real bush setting for those who love to get away from it all. And literally 5 minutes from the border post with Botswana! Definitely recommended."

  • "Not what its advertised as....."

    02 June 2017

"On arrival we found a large group of SA army personel, with firearms, watching tv in the lounge. Was quite intimidating and we were not able to use the facility until they left. Rooms are very well appointed, comfortable and clean. Dinner was a bit disappointing, many of the items on the menu were not available. What we did order was below average and overpriced. Advertised river frontage is deceiving as chalets are nowhere near the river."

  • "Stockpoort Lodge Review"

    13 May 2014

"The staff at Stockpoort are exceptional and we had a wonderful warm welcome back to South Africa. The food was out of this world and really good value. The rooms are really a place to lay your head in transit, and are neat and tidy. Bekker and Tharina are wonderful hosts and we will definitely consider staying there again on our way in or out of Botswana."

  • "A great stopover"

    17 December 2013

"A most convenient stopover on the way to Botswana, it is all very new (had only been running for a couple of weeks when we were there) so the 'garden' surroundings are quite bare but the chalets, although small, are very comfortable. The owners are most friendly and helpful. The surrounding acacia woodland offers some good birding."
