Victoria Guest House

Victoria Guest House is a Victorian house situated in Richmond in the Northern Cape. The house is surrounded by a patio leading onto a beautiful garden with century-old grape vines.

Accommodation comprises two family en-suite bedrooms and one private en-suite bedroom. All rooms are carpeted and have tea and coffee-making facilities, electric blankets, wall heaters, and a TV. We also offer a scrumptious farm-size breakfast, at an additional rate, suited to the palate of the food connoisseur in an intimate dining room with a crackling fireplace.

The interior of the house is spacious and tastefully decorated with moulded wall panels and ceilings, as well as carpeted floors for comfort, and an original cosy Karoo fireplace. There is also a lovely huge back garden. At night, enjoy the peace and quiet of the small town with the only sound in the distance the chime of the Church Clock Tower.

"We arrived after dark and were well received. It was bitterly cold, but the room we used was neat, clean and well cared for.We did not eat there as we wished to leave early. The owner, Marlene,(I think, sorry) is a wonderful woman and we would have dearly loved to have sat and talked to her about her home, the area and the history of Richmond. "What a lovely old Karoo house. The room was big with a bathroom inside and though a bit outdated, everything was clean and comfortable. The host and staff were lovely and welcoming. Will definitely be staying here again when travelling through the Karoo."

"When I search for Self-Catering establishments I expect SafariNow to vet places advertised as such.  Apparently not so.In Richmond the Victoria Guest House was a great disappointment.  The bathroom was a portion of the room partitioned off, with a toilet, basin and bath.  No shower.  And no real privacy either!No fridge, crockery, cutlery, etc. either that one expects for Self-Catering.The TV was to the left of the bed and difficult to watch.On the other hand the domestic help was very friendly and a welcome relief.Avoid at all costs."

"The bathroom arrangements are very unpleasant. A cubicle stuck in the corner, no shower, partitions don't reach the ceiling so uncomfortable for using the toilet. It seems that only one key exists per room, so we were expected to leave our rooms unlocked. On the day we forgot our room was not cleaned!! Breakfast was good but there was no advance indication that it is not included in the price, which is the default . The whole deal, then, is expensive for what you get by way of accommodation."

"The bathroom is far from your room and the cold water tap in the shower does not work. I had to shower in drips and drabs with just hot water. The parking is far from the house and in a garage that is full of junk and very small, could barely fit my car. I had too look for someone to help me get my car out of garage the next morning, because no one was available or in sight. Would definitely not stay there again. Not a good experience."
