Its central location makes it an ideal base for business persons, academics and holiday makers.Newlands Cricket Ground and Newlands Rugby Stadium are within walking distance, as is the University of Cape Town. The shuttle bus to and from UCT has a pick up point outside the Lodge. Shops, restaurants, a pharmacy and public transport facilities are all within easy walking distance. For the holiday maker, popular tourist attractions including Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens, Cavendish Square, and the Baxter Theatre are a mere 10 minutes drive away. Cape Town International Airport, the Victoria and Alfred Waterfront, Table Mountain and Robben Island are easily accessible and about a 15 minutes drive away. The beaches and a number of top wine estates are a 20 to 30 minutes drive away. For business persons and academics, Groote Schuur Hospital, the centre of town and the International Convention Centre are 10 to 15 minutes drive away. Accommodation is offered in three light, spacious and well appointed self-catering double suites, one of which is an upstairs suite, each with own en-suite bathroom. The suites are ideal for longer stays, as they consist of a double bedroom, en-suite bathroom, lounge area and a kitchenette. The kitchenettes contain a microwave oven, a two plate stove, fridge, kettle, toaster and all cutlery and crockery to ensure convenience. All the suites have their own private, separate entrance with secure off street parking. The suites have access to a pretty and secluded garden area which is dominated by a beautiful 180 year old oak tree. The shade from the tree and the entertainment from the numerous squirrels scurrying for acorns, make it a peaceful setting for early morning breakfast or afternoon tea. All three suites are equipped with satellite TV and have access to Wireless Internet. Two additional guests can be accommodated within the larger self-catering suites if required. We also have our own water supply from our borehole on-site.
"This is the perfect place to stay if you have anything going on at UCT. It is central to the university, shopping centres, restaurants, and access roads to the other parts of Cape Town. Vannessa and Helen looked after us thoroughly, all our requests were met and Helen even made breakfast for me at the crack of dawn so I could catch an early flight. Safe, onsite parking was a bonus in Rondebosch."
"I believe Cape Town has so many great places to discover so I never stay at the same place twice. But this time I did, Sandown Lodge is so conveniently placed in Rondebosch, Vanessa, her family and staff are great. The big oak and numerous squirrels provide endless entertainment and the rooms are always clean and have everything you want. Loved the breakfast for the B&B option!! Definitely recommend Sandown Lodge!"
"Well-supplied with all the necessaries, comfortable and quiet."
"Just what we needed. Room for 4 of us, close to the start and finish of the Two Oceans Marathon, clean, neat and comfortable. More than adequate for what we required. The breakfasts were also great. Our hosts, Vanessa and Peter, were fantastic and able to chat about the race, etc. Really nice and I hope to be back next year."
"Sandown Lodge captured for us the essence of Cape Town; cultured, stylish and serene. As a Bed and Breakfast facility, it provided us with very good value for money. The bedroom combined comfort with tasteful, conservative décor and the added touch of South African homemade rusks to be enjoyed with morning coffee or tea added a welcoming, homely touch. The ambience of the spacious dining room in the old Georgian House complimented the gourmet breakfasts which were varied and delicious. We found every aspect of the Lodge to be ‘classy’ without being ostentatious. The hosts were friendly, helpful and charming and we appreciated the transportation to and from the airport. Sandown Lodge was exactly what we needed as ex-South Africans, on a visit home, to remind of us South African hospitality."

"The rooms are clean and adequate."
"Absolutely wonderful. A very convenient location, quiet and comfortable. Lovely garden to unwind in each afternoon. And scrumptious breakfasts, more food than we could eat. Friendly kind hosts. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would recommend the place to others."
