Lake Pleasant Resort

Lake Pleasant Resort is a peaceful shady resort situated halfway between Wilderness and Knysna, on the shores of the Garden Route's only freshwater-lake, Groenvlei. Groenvlei forms part of the Goukamma Nature Reserve and is also part of the Knysna and Wilderness National Lakes Area.

Lake Pleasant has been managed and owned by the same family since 1962 and boasts the only camping resort along a bass fishing lake in the Southern Cape. The resort features a squash court as well as a restaurant, pub, convenience store, take-away, bass shop, tennis court, mountain bikes for hire, two swimming pools, and safe swimming at the resort's Lake Beach.

Lake Pleasant also offers rowing boats and canoes for hire, magnificent bass fishing, private mooring facilities should you bring your own craft, a large games area, and a self-service laundromat. The sea, with its 14 km stretch of golden-sanded beach, the proclaimed Goukamma Marine Reserve, is just over the hill and easily accessible by most vehicles.

In addition, accommodation at Lake Pleasant has proudly received a 3 Star self-catering grading from the Tourism Grading Council of South Africa annually since 2002.

"Loved the fact that there were heaters. Place was cleaned daily by friendly staff. There was a fair amount to do on the in-between days when we weren't out. DS TV helped for entertaining people with sports channels. Most of all I loved that all 9 of us could spend time together playing games and just enjoying the peace and quiet that Lake Pleasant offered. Stuart was professional and on the ball, available for any questions or issues."

"We had a wonderful time at Lake Pleasant. Nice welcome by Stuart and our lodge was more than expected. Only thing was the poor cellphone reception and insufficient wifi (which was only available in designated areas). Then again it was good to be off the cellphone grid. Next time we will rather camp, it would have been much fun for the kids. Thanks for a wonderful stay."

"When we last stayed at Lake Pleasant, we stayed in a hired caravan - that was many years ago. Now the resort, owned by the same family, the Lidstones, offers chalets and lodges at the most reasonable prices. What a "pleasant" surprise it was to see the development that has taken place over the years, without spoiling the lovely, gentle environment. Our lodge was extremely comfortable, well appointed and ideal for a couple or family of 4. The swimming pool sparkled and the grounds attractive. We will definitely go back again."

"We had a lovely stay at this resort. The tennis courts and table tennis was freely available for kids to use. The jungle gym area kept our 5 year old busy. The loan of the bike from the office kept the 13 year old busy. We could relax in our quiet garden cottage with all the facilities we needed. No need to trek with kitchen things.All in all the kids had a great time outdoors and we could relax and did some boating with the kids.We will be back."

"Lake Pleasant Resort is a holiday destination on its own. You could lose yourself there without needing to go anywhere else.Although Sedgefield and Knysna are close at hand.
