St Francis Bay is the unexplored jewel of the Garden Route and is situated only 100 km from Port Elizabeth en route to Cape Town. St Francis Bay can also be a wonderful stopover for guests going on to Addo Elephant Park or the perfect overnight prior to flying out of Port Elizabeth on your final leg of your journey around South Africa.
Nestled on the incredible and unique tidal St Francis Bay canal system, Brisan B&B on the Canals is the ideal accommodation venue to experience the wonders of the beautiful village of St Francis Bay, with its white walls and black thatch roofing. While the uniformity of the style in St Francis Bay lends itself to the graciousness of the area, every house is individual and commands attention.
Brisan B&B on the Canals offers guests superb accommodation to suit everyone. All our beds are extra length and of top quality to ensure a peaceful nights rest. Only 100% cotton percale linen is used and all rooms have a tea/coffee tray, dressing table, hairdryer, guest amenities and television.
Our Luxury Room upstairs is ideal for those who enjoy accommodation with extra space, or for families, as it is a large room with a king/twin bed, lounge area with fold out double sleeper couch, luxury en-suite bathroom with bath and separate shower. This room leads onto a huge balcony with built-in barbecue facility, patio furniture, and sun loungers, overlooking the private beach and the rest of St Francis Bay canals and Kouga mountains. In this accommodation, you can enjoy the privacy and tranquillity of the area while relaxing on the deck with a long, cold drink, cup of tea or coffee, or your own braai while the children build a sandcastle or play the shallow waters on the private beach next to the Jetty. Speak to the captain of Brisan's own Barge "the Swan of Brisan" and arrange a cruise around the canal or upriver. The tidal canals ensure 100% fresh seawater daily.
The other superb accommodation consists of three canal facing rooms, each with its own entrance, patio furniture, and Weber barbecue. These rooms offer guests very comfortable accommodation with king/twin beds, luxury en-suite bathroom with bath and separate shower. Two of the rooms are adjacent to each other and create the ideal accommodation for those traveling together or for families with 2 or 3 children.
The remaining accommodation is upstairs. A large, sunny room with a small private balcony overlooking the side gardens. This room has king or twin bed, bath and separate shower, this accommodation is also suitable for a family as there is space for a stretcher or airbed mattress.
Brisan Bed & Breakfast was recently extended to include an enclosed patio with roll down see-through awnings and stainless steel built-in barbecue. This is where guests can enjoy their gourmet breakfasts in all weathers while basking in the beauty and tranquillity of the surroundings overlooking the St Francis Bay canals.
"Thank you to Sandy for an excellent weekend. Sandy went beyond what is expected from a host and from a bed and breakfast. I will definitely go back again."
"A wonderful evening and awesome breakfast. Accommodation was great and the small touches like filter coffee and rusks make for an enjoyable stay. Hadan interestingchat with Brian in the morning and would have loved to have spent more time talking to him. For a getaway, this is the place to go"
"We were fortunate enough to spend our Christmas holiday at Brisan, and to meet Sandy and Brian who are the nicest hosts you could hope to have. It was the ideal place for all the different age groups in our family, our teenagers had easy access to the beach and nightlife, our youngest got to enjoy paddling on the canals, and my husband and got to relax - it really did beat renting a house in St Francis! The rooms were very comfortable (thanks for the fantastic beds!), breakfasts delicious and we were made to feel as though the house was ours - even though there were other families there at the time. If you're looking for a relaxing holiday in St Francis over the Christmas New Year period, which is a big ask, this is the place to spend it."
"Very friendly, extremely comfortable accommodation and an excellent location. Hosts could not do enough for us - nothing was too much trouble. Would thoroughly recommend to family and friends."
"Brian and Sandy are the most wonderful hosts and the guest house was beautiful with outstanding service and delicious breakfast! Many thanks to our gracious hosts."

"We stayed two nights with Brian and Sandy. Had a wonderful time , very relaxing excellent hosts !! Very nice sundowner cruise on the canals , comfortable rooms overall very very nice."
"Top class accommodationExecellent valueEnjoyed stay & would returnExtremely nice peopleHave recommended to friends already"
"We had a great time and enjoyed the hospitality very much. The kids loved the water and the boat which we rented from Brian. The braai we had in the evening was fun as this was on the 1st floor on the terrace .The location is great and near to a beautiful beach with the most enormous waves.Well worth a stop as the houses with thatched roofs were different to any where else on the garden route. It reminded me a bit of Holland but then with better weather."
"Takes a bit of getting use to at first, the living in somebody else's house routine! Brian and Sandy make you feel so welcome however that this is soon forgotten and you feel that the place is yours. The canals are great to explore but take care of the jet skiers on the river! The house is lovely and having a braai on the roof terrace was great."
"Very beautiful! Calming and relaxing. Sandy and Brian are very hospitable."
