Waterways Accommodation

Waterways Accommodation is an owner-run, secure and peaceful thatched homestay, offering waterfront accommodation on the picturesque Canals at St Francis Bay. The property is situated on the Kromme River estuary, with views over the canals, the estuary and the river mouth to the sea. It has been recommended in the Rough Guide and Stefan Lose Guide for its friendliness, its situation, its accommodation, its views, and cruises which can be arranged. Two canoes and a rowing boat are available for use by guests along with a private mooring.

Waterways Accommodation consists of two comfortable and spacious en-suite rooms, each with separate entrance, out-door living facilities and good views. Both rooms offer tea and coffee-making facilities, a fridge and TV. A third overflow room is also available at lower charge to accommodate families with children.

The Green room is a large bed-sitter, situated above a double garage, with twin beds adaptable to double, en-suite shower room, full lounge and washing up facilities. It has views over the river and the canals. A balcony faces north over the river, and a large west-facing deck is also available overlooking the canal system. The Canal room is on the ground floor, facing west over rolling lawns to the canals. This has a double bed, en suite bathroom, with hand shower, and has a west-facing terrace overlooking the canals.

St Francis Bay itself is a unique coastal resort development, situated mid-way between the Garden Route and Port Elizabeth. It is popular for its predominantly thatched architecture; its 2.5 km beach with fine, clean sand and world-class surfing; its 5.6 km of tidal marina, known as the Canals; the Kromme River, navigable for 12 km, with a large estuary beach and abundant bird life at low tide; Port St Francis, headquarters of the local calamari fishing industry, and from which deep-sea safaris can be arranged; two excellent links golf courses; and beautiful coastal walks through Fynbos nature reserves.

We are very happy.<br/><br/>Establishments response:<br/><br/>Thank you, Sijie, for this positive review. We are pleased that you enjoyed your stay, despite the lack of self-catering facilities. 11 February 2016

"We stayed 2 nights at waterways this week. The property lies in a beautiful spot by the canal. Hilton and Julia made us so welcome and looked after us very well and even shared sundowners with us on the sun bench by the water. We loved the fact we could use their canoe to take a look around the canal system.<div>Breakfast was delicious especially Julia's homemade bread. All in all a lovely 2 nights and would love to return.<br /><div><br /></div></div>"
