Pronounced as F-litch-ita, this Italian word means happiness, satisfaction and bliss. The name says it all of this beautiful piece of heaven on earth.
This 100-hectare property boasts untouched fynbos, wildlife and seclusion from the hustle & bustle of everyday life.
The Villa is a contemporary, three bedroom self-catering house. Fully equipped and can comfortably accommodate up to 8 people.
Perfect for families, friends or a romantic getaway for two.
It consists of a spacious living area with subtle dcor along with an ambient fireplace that gives an instant feeling of warmth and comfort. Perfect for setting the mood in any season or occasion.
It has a fully equipped kitchen which instils a sense of being home away from home and also provides all the necessities if you feel the urge to whip up an intimate meal.
Our Villas rooms are set out to offer maximum space and are decorated with simplicity. The main bedroom has a queen size bed and a lovely en-suite bath and shower duo. The second bedroom also has a queen size bed, while the third bedroom is set out with four single beds which can easily be converted into a double if required. Each room has sufficient cupboard space. There is a second bathroom which is fitted with a shower.
The Patio does not disappoint! Complete with an under roof built-in braai, its breathtaking panoramic views of the landscape and its unforgettable sunrises as well as sunsets, it is the perfect setting for sundowners in the evening and an aromatic coffee in the morning. There is also a "kraal braai" which is a fantastic place to relax with family and friends under the magical starry nights.
We do know that four-legged friends are as much a part of the family and therefore they are welcome to join.
For the adventurous, you can explore the walking trails in the Milkwood forest or have a picnic at the dam. If you feel like just relaxing, absorb the stunning scenery, lounge in the warm South African sun as the only sounds to be heard are those of birds, the distant crashing waves and the late afternoon roars from the lions at the Big Cat Sanctuary, neighbouring Felicita.
You will get the feeling that you are a hundred miles away from the hustle and bustle of modern life, yet only a 15-minute drive from the historic village of Stanford. With biking and walking trails, wine farms, a cheese factory, regular farmers markets, breweries, gin distilleries, fine restaurants and beaches that stretch for kilometres. Felicita is also a mere 30 minute drive to Hermanus, the whale watching capital of South Africa which offers a variety of restaurants, cafes, shops, entertainment and activities.
We pride ourselves for being free of alien flora species which is an ongoing problem in the Overberg region. Felicita has a low carbon footprint and is a self-sustaining, eco-friendly operation, which is off the national electricity grid, therefore un-phased by load shedding as all the facilities at Felicita are one hundred percent powered by solar and gas. The water supply is sourced directly from a natural spring which cascades into a stream that flows through the farmland and is carefully processed with a chemical-free filtration system, therefore, is pure as well as safe to drink.
"Neat and spacious for a big family. It will help if there were another pan, toaster and braai utensils. Other than that everything was perfect. I even got rid of my writers block!!"
"Having good wifi was really great for such an off the grid location. My dogs loved it too."
"The location for Villa Felicitas, while a little off the beaten track, is fantastic with uninterrupted views of fynbos and only the sound of birdsong. A perfect, tranquil retreat."
"We really enjoyed our stay. The villa has wonderful views and is in a quiet secluded area in the country. Just what we wanted!"
"The was great but we had some serious tick problems.<br/>had to check ourselves for ticks every 20 minutes. they were everywhere. we tried to avoid going outside and didn't want to go into the bushes(i came here to see the birds in the bushes) they spoiled our stay. we checked ourselves for ticks before bed yet still found them in our bed when waking up in the middle of the night. we did have two dogs with us which is probably where the ticks came from. I have never seen so many ticks or been so uncomfortable in my life. We nick named the place Tick Villa<br/><br/>Establishment Response: <br/><br/>Dear Jeremy,<br/>We take cognizance of the fact that nature produces certain creatures especially with the change of seasons (winter to spring) on the Felicita reserve and we have included this information in our documentation provided for your information upon arrival at the Villa.<br/><br/>We did not receive communication from you that pets were accompanying you to the Villa, which we do request as part of the T&Cs on the Safarinow.com website. We go out of our way to make mention to guests arriving with pets, that pets may encounter certain species on the reserve, small brown ticks being one of them. Pets may carry these into the Villa, which we encourage guests to avoid. Please note that the Villa is free of these tiny creatures under normal conditions unless they are brought in by pets.<br/><br/>We hope that you will visit Villa Felicita again."
"Our entire weeks stay was PERFECT!!!! From the check in to the check out.Was so sad to leave!Thank you once again!"
"We are in our late 60's so we found the lighting for reading in the evenings a bit dim - we often do when we go away! Bed very comfortable and all facilities very good - spotlessly clean. Wonderful place to be able to take dogs. Host and hostess charming and extremely helpful."
"Villa Felicita is a great place to slow down, relax and take in beauty. Surrounded by fynbos and a vista of mountains and sunsets. The Villa is well equipped, spacious and practical. We thoroughly enjoyed our time there. Thanks to you Wayne & Chantelle"
"It is so rare to arrive at a weekend venue and find it is exactly what was advertised and what you had hoped for. Peace, privacy, a LOT of open space, comfortable and well equipped accommodation, very easy access to multiple local attractions and - best of all - beautiful flora, fauna and wildlife all around the Villa."
"The perfect spot to recharge your batteries with amazing views from the patio, especially early in the morning having that first cuppa coffee. The accommodation is great - ample space so that you don't feel on top of each other - we were a party of 5 adults and 5 dogs. Loved the outdoor braai and made full use of the indoor fireplace.<div>Thank you Chantelle and Wayne for the excellent service. We will definitely be back again.</div>"
"The perfect spot to rejuvenate and charge your batteries. Amazing views and the perfect spot to sit and drink a Gin and Tonic while time creeps past you.<div><br /></div><div><br /></div>"
"Felicita is as described and way more.... it is off the grid so to speak. The place is completely relaxing and in the nature, which is what we wanted. The views are breath taking and the birdlife is magnificent. The amenities are ample. Our dogs loved it as well. The boma is fantastic at sunset time. We did not really want to leave. Chantelle checked on us but we did not need anything at all. Thanks for a wonderful stay we will be back<div>Kathy</div>"
"As a family with our two dogs we enjoyed every aspect of living in the remote fynbos wilderness of Villa Felicita. The home is more than comfortable with some soft touches [soft white linen] and plenty of spaces for fires indoors and outdoors. We braaied on the patio every night under cover in the middle of winter. Stanford is a gem to be discovered!! We enjoyed visits to Hermanus, Gansbaai, Cheese factory farm, Panthera big cat refuge centre and the Wandelpad of Stanford. Mostly we enjoyed walking and exploring in the beautiful fynbos bird-rich environs of Villa Felicita."
"We had such a lovely stay here at Villa Felicita. My business partner and I needed to find a quiet, self-catering place out of Cape Town to get some serious work done. We were so glad we booked here, it was so peaceful and comfortable. We got loads of work done and managed to fit in a walk, sundowners and got to sit by the fireplace in the evening. I can't wait to return here with my Fianc!"
"A nicely decorated house in the middle of fynbos, with wonderful views of the mountains. You feel as if you are in a wild place, but it is an easy 15 minutes drive to the quaint town of Stanford with its cute shops and divine restaurants. The house itself has wifi and DSTV, so there all the comforts of home."
"My husband and I with four of our close friends were so impressed with Villa Felicita. We arrived to a warm house with the fireplace already lit, shortly followed by Chantelle and Wayne stopping by to welcome us. Despite the torrential rain we were quite content, enjoying the covered patio and blazing fireplace. Everything we needed was readily available. A Fantastic weekend away."
"I stayed at Villa Felicita for the month of Aug 2013. I was on study leave and needed a quiet place. The house and venue was perfect for this. The duvets are soft, silky and down! Everything just worked well. And the outside fireplace! OMG! If it wasn't raining, I had chops on the fire. And you can see the milky lane in the evenings! But the best of all are the hosts. They were wonderful. Checked in with my well being often, invited me for supper, had wood delivered, had their wonderful staff clean the house weekly, brought a gas heater for cold (which I didn't ask for), and made sure the wifi was up and running every day. Also, this is a "green" farm - they just use sun panels and gas, totally off the grid! So your footprint is minimal!Go and stay there! Just do it!"
"We had a lovely stay at Villa Felicita - the views are outstanding and it's incredibly peaceful, with just the sounds of (millions) of birds around us. The owners are very hospitable and the house is very well stocked with everything you could need, including stacks of firewood. There's a very nice outside braai area, which would be awesome to sit around in summer - unfortunately we stayed there in mid-winter and it was just too chilly. Stanford is just 5 mins down the round, and lovely to stroll around, looking the lovely old houses and stopping for a coffee and piece of cake. The only thing I wouldn't recommend is visiting the nearby Birkenhead Brewery - we have a very below-average lunch there, which was a pity considering its beautiful setting and view."
"My wife and I tend to do things at the spur of the moment and decided late on Thursday afternoon to get away to the countryside for a week end. I looked for pet friendly options and found Villa Felicita. We invited a friend to join us and departed after work on Friday. The week end was just what we needed, total tranquility in a surrounding second to none. The bird life is awesome and we spent hours spotting species we do not see in the city. The night sky was just as spectacular with almost zero light pollution. Spent much of the evening in front of a roaring fire sipping red wine and discussing the days sightings. Thanks Chantelle & Wayne, we most definitely will be back again."
"Wonderfull place! Would love to stay there again!"
"Villa Felicita is a wonderfully modern, clean and stylish house with everything you need to have a relaxing and enjoyable weekend away from it all. Attention to detail is amazing without being over-the-top and detracting from being in nature on a fynbos reserve. It's a small thing to be sure but a self catering spot with handsoap in all the bathrooms is indicative of hosts that care :) And what fine hosts they are. Chantel and Wayne were friendly and gracious hosts who made sure that we had everything we needed The view is amazing, the big fire pit (with wood supplied!) is the perfect way to spend a warm summer's evening. There is an indoor fireplace too which I am sure makes it an excellent winter getaway too. And the view is beautiful overlooking the valley and mountains with a great stoep to sit and read and ponder! Highly recommended!"
"Awesome service! Remote with high level privacy! Safe! Beautiful Surroundings! Very comfortable and well equipped!"
"This place is the greatest! From the moment you turn off the main road, wondering up the farm to your first view of the house we were captivated and excited! Everything was beautiful. If you are looking for seclusion then you have found it in the most beautiful of surroundings. Views that go on forever, ending in mountains that are so majestic. Perfect for looking at while sitting on the veranda having your morning coffee or sundowners. I really could go on and on about this place - its that great. Staff (Chantelle) are super friendly and popped in to say hi as well as to bring us extra wood so that we could keep the indoor fire going all day (it was a chilli day) We even got a really nice bottle of wine as a welcome gift! such a treat. The kitchen is greatly stocked. Everything was clean and tidy. Its perfect for a romantic getaway of family / friends holiday. The outdoor braai area set up like a little kraal was great fun to braai in. Loved our stay here and will definitely go back!"
