A most dramatic setting: Between the green slopes of the Maanschynkop mountains and a spit of land bordered by the glittering waters of the Walker Bay Nature Reserve, the bird-rich Klein River flows.
Tucked into the milkwood forest that fringes the southern banks, overlooking the tranquil lagoon waters, and within reach of Walker Bay, where Southern Right whales nurse their calves from July to November, Coot Club offers experiences as diverse as the species it nurtures.
Whether a sedentary nature lover, or more active and looking to paddle, cycle or swim, or just a foodie wanting to explore the gastronomic wonders and charming streetscapes of nearby Stanford village, youll wonder why its taken so long.
A choice of things to do; the freedom to do nothing. Views that empty the mind. Birds that make you reach for a book. The sound of the halyard clanking in the wind; the calm silence of a wild encounter.
To reach in and reach out. To cherish the quiet. To wear nothing but a sarong. Beach sand on your feet.
A reminder that this is life, not a dress rehearsal.
"The House is beautiful, private, perfectly clean with everything you need. Spectacular setting, with plenty to do. We loved Kyacking on the lagoon and visiting the winefarms in the area, having lunch in Stanford, going to the beach close by. Very special is sitting around the fireplace in the evening. A birdwatching paradise . Highly recommended for a weekend away with family and friends."
"What a spectacular place, incredible setting. What a find!!!"
"Beautiful surroundings! Very peaceful. The units are too close together. It was not private enough. We have 2 small kids and the property lacked something for them, at least a jungle gym or something. Would have been nice to make use of the pool at Lagoon Lodge seeing that it is also part of the Mosaic group. First night stay at Milkwood1. Highly overpriced. Was moved to Milkwood 2 on second night due to a burst water pipe and whole unit was under water. Was nice to move our things over, but no apology from a Manager or someone for the inconvenience. That Customer contact would have been nice. Also am issue with our payment as Lodge never received it on time from Safari. Only when we left it was sorted, so all the time you feel as if you are there and they think you didn't pay in full. Other staff was very nice and friendly."
"This place is an absolute gem; it is set in such a picturesque location between a mountain and lagoon. What more could one ask for? It was truly a treat and a definite sanctuary, to escape the hustle and bustle of city life. So peaceful and secluded, the sounds of water and chirping of birds is the only melody you are likely to hear. The house is so well kept and stocked with everything one could possibly need in a self-catering place. The little things really made a difference, like the abundance of firewood for those chilly days and nights and the coffee plunger for people like us who love more than one cuppa in a day. Also the staff are so friendly and very helpful, making sure that everything was to our liking. The food was mouth-watering, everything tasted so fresh and delicious, our platter had an abundance of goodies that complimented each other so well. As a couple, this was an awesome place to just relax and reconnect with each other. Not to mention it would be a great getaway for families too. We loved our time here and would definitely return in a heartbeat"
"Had an amazing night in the Milkwood cottages with friends and family. Even though it was winter, cold and raining the cottage was inviting with its warm fire place and bean bags, lovely baths and luxurious big beds!"
"It’s a quiet and secluded sanctuary. Scenery is breathtakingly beautiful. The interior decorating and finishes is top notch and from the best I saw in self catering units. We unfortunately were only able to check in after dark and find traveling in the dark on the gravel road and trying to locate them a bit challenging. Make sure you check in before sunset and take something to avoid misquote bites. Also make sure you have some coffee, milk extra ready when you book in there was nothing in the room and you are 10km from town."
"We were so sorry to only stay one night at Mosaic sanctuary. It was absolutely charming, and great value for money for a group travelling together. The finishes were top class and attention to detail was fantastic. The staff were extremely helpful. The downside was a fair amount of noise from a children's camp close by."
"After a long anticipated stay at Mosaic Sanctuary I was slightly disappointed. Scenery and interior decorating were beautiful but privacy and tranquility were lacking especially if you had direct neighbors. I suspect the focus here is more on the lodge guest than the self catering ones."
"Wonderful setting, blissfully quiet (flamingos aside), extremely friendly staff (and knowledgeable too - we did a "game drive" for beach sundowners, and learned a lot about indigenous medicinal plants). Great farm-grown food, and oh my, the graceful flamingos - they squawked us to sleep at night, and then while we were in the middle of breakfast, they rose as one in a graceful arc. We all stopped to watch the awesome show. All in all, a wonderful getaway."
"We are a family of three with #4 on the way. We stayed three nights in the Milkwood Cottage 3. I believe we were their first guests and there were a few odds and ends not quite finished. They were quickly taken care of when we pointed them out. Beyond a few "teething issues", this was one of the best mini-vacations we've ever been on. The setting was stunning and the accommodation comfortable. The staff were universally helpful and went above and beyond to cater for our two year old. We had the most amazing picnic lunch under the trees on the side of the lagoon, all arranged for us by the staff at the Spookhaus. Hearty breakfast baskets arrived at 8 a.m. We availed ourselves of the sundowner beach trip, and my husband did the ATV trip around the farm. The town of Stanford is a gem with lots close by to do with kids. Thank you for a restive and renewing weekend. We'll be back!"
"We enjoyed our stay very much, it was peaceful in the beautiful surroundings."
"The stone cottages are beautiful and the surrounding mountains and lake is just breath taking. Our stay was short and wet but still wonderful. Will stay longer next time as there was so much we did not get around to doing (kayaking, horse riding).Really a wonderful place for a couple or a whole family."
"Very charming and welcoming people. We enjoyed very much that stay."

"What a wonderful experience! The setting, the staff and the food were all top of the range. We had the most wonderful breakfast on a deserted beach and Tania provided us with the most delectable meals and snacks."
