Rivers Edge is a lovely riverfront self-catering cottage ideally located in Stanford. Stanford is an unspoilt village in the Cape Overberg and features an assortment of Cape Victorian and Edwardian architecture, quaint country lanes and an overall atmosphere of natural calm.
Pristine yet laid-back, this heritage enclave is the perfect balm for families needing to escape the city crush. At its heart is Rivers Edge, a delightful double-storey home thoughtfully equipped with every modern convenience while still retaining its old-world charm.
Lush lawns lead down to the pristine Klein River where you can swim, boat or kayak; or simply laze on the banks admiring the natural splendour, or simply relax at the pool. Take a slow, scenic cycle through the village, and make a point of visiting the Saturday morning market for scrumptious homemade goodies. Stanford is fast becoming a culinary hotspot, boasting award-winning bistros, hotel pubs, vineyards, a cheese maker and micro-brewery.
The cottage can accommodate up to a maximum of eight guests and comprises three double bedrooms, two of which are en-suite, one double bunk room, three bathrooms, an open-plan kitchen, lounge and dining room, an upstairs veranda and a patio with dining furniture.
The kitchen includes a scullery with a washing machine and a dishwasher, and the cosy lounge offers a log-burning fireplace. The French doors lead to a covered patio area. The house is fully alarmed and includes a Bose iPod docking station.
"Over the weekend of the 16th September, my husband & I together with our visiting relatives plus Muttley our pooch had the pleasure of staying at River's Edge. <br/><br/>The house was very well supplied with plenty of braai wood and other necessaries. It was also very clean and tidy. <br/><br/>The sleeping accommodation and lounge were comfortable, the couches were of a decent size to seat 4 adults, it was lovely just being able to relax and gaze out into the peaceful garden. <br/><br/>We would certainly recommend River's Edge to anyone seeking a quiet relaxing break. <br/> <br/>We had a super time - thanks very much. Hope to be able to come back. All the best. Gaynor"
"Rivers Edge, an old house, was comfortable and has everything one would need, but is over cluttered with 'stuff'. It has a lovely position and nice garden, The biggest negative was the complicated security: locks, padlocks, bolts, bunches of keys, codes, alarms, every time you go out. Managing that was a pain, and was very stressful when we managed to padlock ourselves out of the house with the keys inside!<br />"
"Pretty and beautifully equipped home. Tranquil setting with space (including large and lovely garden) for everyone to chill. River walk great for kids and parents! A guided river trip with Tim owner of "3 Summers" speed boat is a must."
