  "The establishment is well protected, we were warm welcomed by Margaret, the house was very clean,comfortable and accommodative, although we did not book for breakfast Margaret became Generous by providing different types of cereals, milk,yourghurt, juice, bread for each one of us ,each room has TV and fridge,all 6 of us were accommodated, she also extended the departure time since there were no bookings after us, that in its own shows kindness, warmth, care,hospitality and generosity , Thank you so much Margaret.   "This was such a nice surprise, the effort Magriet puts into making you feel welcome is really amazing. There is always some issues when traveling with a toddler, you know sleeping arrangements ect, but she went above and beyond what we expected putting rails on the bed so little one won't fall off. The room in itself was well equiped with everything you might need, and even the general information about where to get what in town was readily available. With complimentary juice, milk, teas, coffees and breakfast cereals with yogurt..... All we can say is WOW!!! Will definitely recommend it to anyone needing a place to stay in Bloemfontein!!!"

  "I had real trouble finding accommodation in Bloemfontein, as our visit coincided with the 100th birthday celebrations of the African National Congress (ANC) and everywhere in town seemed to be booked out. After some difficulty, I managed to find the Duinerus Guest House - and what a find it was! Located in a quiet suburb sandwiched between the University of the Free State and the N1 highway. It was a home-from-home and an absolute gem for people travelling on a budget. The accommodation is self catering, but the owner has been very generous in equipping the kitchens with tea, coffee, milk, bread, fruit juice, butter, jam and rusks - in other words, the makings of a perfectly adequate breakfast at no additional cost. The rooms, all en suite, are compact but comfortable and equipped with both fans and heaters to cope with Bloem's somewhat extreme climate. There is secure off-street parking, and the surroundings are pleasant. I should note that there is no air-conditioning and no swimming pool, but for this price, it wouldn't be reasonable to expect this. What makes this place so outstanding is the generosity and thoughtfulness of the host. She struck an excellent balance between being friendly and helpful, yet not intrusive (I can't bear hosts who crowd and fuss over you) and her accommodation is some of the best value-for-money I've experienced in a long time. The guest house is well located for those wanting a break on the long haul to and from Cape Town, and it doesn't require a major detour from the highway. It is also excellently located for the university, from which I suspect it derives a large proportion of its business. Should you wish to self cater, it is also close to a well-stocked Spar supermarket on Nelson Mandela Drive and several restaurants within a short drive. We stayed in a unit comprising three en-suite bedrooms with a shared kitchen-living area, which was ideal for a family travelling together. An absolute find, and I cannot recommend it highly enough!"

  ""If you can trust someone with small things then you can do the same with big things" Anonymous. I was welcomed with open arms at the guest house and thus felt very welcome immediately. Due to the bitter cold outside, Magriet made sure that my room was 'room temperature' when I arrived and thus scored full marks in my books. The attention to detail (as mentioned above) added value to my stay in Duinerus and thus when I ask myself the following question: "Would I recommend the guest house to my family and closest friends?", the answer would be yes."
