Talk of the Town is less than three hours drive from Cape Town on the N7 towards Namibia, and a perfect location to escape the daily routine and busy city life. This bed and breakfast is built on old fashioned ideals and modern age comfort. At Talk of the Town, we believe in high quality service and affordable luxury accommodation. The guest house also offers a bakery, coffee shop and curio shop.
The house was built in the early 1900s and was restored to perfection. One can relax in the very comfortable lounge while reading the newspaper, magazines, books or watch television. Whether you are a business person looking for an overnight stay, a tourist exploring the wild flowers during August and September, attending the annual Rittelfees, or simply need a long holiday in nature then look no further. Talk of the Town is definitely the place to stay.
Our rooms are serviced daily and the standard of cleanliness is of high grade. Each of our en-suite rooms features its own private entrance and either a double bed or twin single beds. The en-suite bathrooms have large fluffy towels and complimentary toiletries, and the rooms also offer tea and coffee-making facilities. Breakfast is served on the patio or in the dining room. Laundry facilities are available at an additional fee, and barbecue facilities and safe and secure parking are available.
Van Rhynsdorp is the ideal overnight stop on the N7 between Cape Town and Namibia. Activities and sights in and around Van Rhynsdorp include the Latsky Radio Museum, various bushman paintings in the Gifberg area, the Old Goal next to the Van Rhijn Museum, bird-watching Black eagles at the Waterval, and the biggest succulent nursery in the Southern Hemisphere.
"We were a party of 3 couples who were amazed at the decor and ambience. Anne was a wonderful hostess, the breakfast was abundant but its the decor in the whole establishment that takes your breath away. We would certainly recommend this with great confidence and pleasure!"
"Only adequate for a one night stay. <br/>Misrepresation as there were no facilities avaliabel for eveninig meals."
"The decor reflects the olde world nature of the town and the region. But modern comforts are provided. Especially the electric blanket which is needed during the chilly nights ! Great personilised breakfast served in an interesting setting."
"Lovely room with charming dcor! Nice to access from the veranda. More than enough to eat for breakfast! Only stayed for the night but would like to have stayed longer.Very helpful owner"
"Prompt and very friendly service, clean and tidy rooms with everything in place, we even received lunch packs instead of breakfast since we left very early in the morning after a good cup of coffee.<br />Loved the "attitude" of tha place.<br />"
"We stayed for one night on our way North - Anne was such a good hostess , friendly and helpful <br />She filled our coffee bottle as well as kept our sandwiches in her fridge for the next day <br /><br />We all loved the decor and my two little boys had allot of fun trying to get up the amazing big comfortable beds <br /><br />We will definitely stay here again <br /><br />"
"We stayed overnight and had a peaceful undisturbed sleep. Being on such a central road, we had thought that there would be disturbances from the group outside the supermarket across the road but there was no such thing. The suite we had (No. 1) is exceptionally comfortable and the hostess exceptionally welcoming. Our breakfast was five star. Couldn't have asked for anything better."
"Thoroughly enjoyed our brief stay, the rooms are very tastefully decorated and the house has such a unique and inviting presence. Breakfast was delicious and we were well looked after."
"The rooms are fairly big but there is a lot of maintenance which should be done i.e. loose door and drawer knobs and faulty electrical switches. The staff were friendly and the breakfast provided was good. No shampoo, soap, hairdryer but lots of body cream."
"Anne is just lovely and very welcoming. I absolutely loved the quirky, original, detailed decor. He a wonderful nights rest and the food was great too."

"We had a lovely stay at the Talk of the Town and found a lot of love and care taken with decorating the rooms. We love eating breakfast and lunch at the Muis Huis and we had a wonderful supper at the local restaurant."
"A really lovely stop over. Anne was a wonderful host, going out of her way to ensure we were comfortable and well fed! Can highly recommend."

"Stayed 3 nights September 2013. Very comfortable and central to the flower viewing areas. Great breakfasts at Muis Huis."
"Old-world charm and quite a quaint place, where you can feel the homeliness with very friendly cats, dogs and a duck. And the owner of course-:)I like the fact that you can feel totally private, though with someone around when you need advice.I would recommend it totally!"
"On our return to Cape Town we all had to tell all our friends and family about our lovely stay at "Talk Of The Town". We were received like VIP's at this very cosy B&B with fantastic rooms, artworks and braai facilities. We enjoyed our stay very much and will return in the Flower Season."
